Clay Aiken: "I'm Not Trying to Be Justin Timberlake."

Do you think Clay and Justin were one in the same?

    Mr. Aiken:

I knew Justin Timberlake, he was my friend.

You Sir, are no Justin Timberlake.

I don't think that will ever happen. Clay Aiken is the Barry Manilow of our generation (except less successful).

I can't think of who Justin Timberlake is equivalent to, perhaps Mick Jagger?

There is one fundamental, important difference above all else:

We (okay, I) really really want Justin to come over and play on our team. We (I) really really REALLY want Clay not to.

As much as we all love to make fun of Clay, the sad truth of the matter is that, vocally, he is a better "singer" than Timberlake, when using the standard, classical definition of a trained "singer".

Yeah, Timberlake can sing. Damn well. But put him on a stage and ask him to sing something that's NOT pop, and that doesn't require a team of sound engineers for post-processing, and he'd fall apart. Just doesn't have the chops. Aiken does.

Do I LOVE Aiken? No. Is he the pinnacle of good vocal study? No. But I think he deserves props for being a good "singer". And he deserves props for NOT trying to be like Timberlake. Every young male that sings pop music sounds just like him. A thin, strained tone, and nasal timbre. The LAST thing we need is another male pop singer like Timberlake. Give me someone that realizes he has a chest voice and knows how to use the damn thing! LOL!

And I would agree with the Manilow comparison, except that Manilow WROTE all those fabulous songs we know and love. Aiken's just a songbird.

singer/songwriters are a vanishing breed... i've heard people say that justin timberlake is the michael jackson of his generation.

after i finished guffawing i made the following points:

*michael jackson invinted michael jackson, just timberlake impersonates michael jackson

*michael jackson WROTE and COMPOSED from SCRATCH most of the songs we know him for... justin timberlake didn't write most of what we know him for, and what he did "write" samples other songs

*michael jackson's album "bad" by itself has sold more copies than justin timberlake's entire output to date. "bad" + "dangerous" has sold more copies than justin timberlake + n'sync. we still haven't added "off the wall," "thriller," or "HIStory" to the mix...

*michael jackson invinted the video format used by almost all other dance artists to this day (complex dance routine w/artist at center surrounded by a group of other dancers in order to portray some kind of narrative or situation)... justin timberlake invinted... oh wait, he's not invinted anything

*michael jackson designed and owns the patent for the ankle brace in his shoes that allows him to lean over towards the floor. justin timberlake created and owns the patent for... oh wait, he's not invinted anything

*michael jackson has given $300 million dollars to charity. justin timberlake hasn't made that much yet.

before you start in on the child molestation jokes, i think it's best to recognize that mj was found not guilty on all counts in a trial by jury. regardless of what you think of mj's personal life, justin timberlake is nothing compared to michael jackson.

Clay is unattractive and is an ass! He is very persistant in trying to sleep with people, and after talking with him, he doesn't take no too easily.

Kinda sad though, he went to my highschool, and he only lives about 20 min from my house.. man if only he were hot.. but still, he's an unattractive ass.. justin is atleast hot!

Its a good thing he doesn't want to be like justin, haha he's too ugly to even try to be like him.
