Ok so rather than go the easy route and ask for assistance in planning routines or asking for straight up advice I think that knowing what errors others have made along the way will clear up most questions. SO lets have it guys, what mistakes have you made on your body building journey that you were able to rectify? personally lack of consistency has always come back to bite me just when I start getting a head start down the path.

Controling my eating and drinking (cocktails) I get so tired by the end of the day I just dig in.
I don't really eat sweets and I gave up fast food but meat and potatoes....yum. After a couple vodka and sodas though.......LOL.
I'll just keep going and see where my body goes whileliving a comfortable lifestyle.

I no longer allow certain foods to enter my home. I see them in the supermarket begging me to take them home, so I quickly rush to the next aisle and force them to go home with someone else.

Not eating enough and putting too much focus on isolation moves instead of compound moves.

Yo yo-ing between cutting and bulking every other week. I'll start a bulk and then decide by the end of the week, I'm still not lean enough to bulk and switch to cutting the next week, then suddenly start to feel small and will bulk the next week. I did that for nearly a year without realizing the mental trap I was falling in to.

A second bad habit I have had in the past is going too extreme on my cuts because I am impatient with the dieting and want to get back to the bulking. By the end of the week my energy and mood starts crashing and I splurge on the weekends and have to restart the next Monday exactly where I was at before. Again I probably wasted 6 months doing something like this.

Final bad habit is routine inconsistency. Sort of in a similar sense of my bulking and cutting every other week, I have been guilty of always looking for that one perfect program. One week I am doing Mentzer's Heavy Duty, then the next an Arnold style high volume routine.

This summer I've been out of the gym and only doing bodyweight exercises...no biggie...don't mind "maintaining" for a while since I'm not in a hurry to get ripped.

But, in a hotel room it's difficult to maintain a perfect diet. In that aspect, I've slacked most of the summer. Still look the same as I did at the beginning of summer, but a little more discipline could have been used had I wanted to. I was just too lazy to drive an hour to the nearest store that sells healthy food like I'm used to back home.
