Yes.. it is this thread... again!

But a bit different. According to this article, what we have been debating here in the forums has been productive, and should be done. Racism should be owned up to, and discourse should be created icon_smile.gif

My great grandparents were slave owners. My mom "tried" to teach me to hate black...and all other minorities...including gays.

She failed. I disowned her this week for her discriminatory religious bullshit.

However, I am fighting for the current minority in this country.

What's in the past is the past. I'd rather spend my time changing the future. icon_cool.gif

The Stranger is leftist tripe that condones cruising. Some (not all) of the examples of "racism" listed in the article had nothing to do with race but the author decided to draw racism from a situation that did not have anything to do with race.

Reason #198 I vote Republican. I see facts, not skewed versions of events based on bias.

I was more going for that idea that we're all just a little bit racist, and instead of bemoaning and struggling over it, to accept it and just work with it, and work to understand why we have some prejudices.

FrostedFlakes, your post made no sense.

Wow, another Seattle liberal white do-gooder who writes an article to look like a champion for "brown people" only to reinforce this idea that whites are the ones who need to change and stop looking at others as "other" in order to "help" those others attain equality because they can't help themselves, what a surprise!

Of course, she'll never actually move into the inner-city himself, she'll just make judgmental shots at everyone else for "racistly" living in the suburbs.

Here's one little section in this article that unintentionally exposes the bullshit:

"As Mab Segrest writes: "Women are less white than men, gay people are less white than straight people, poor people less white than rich people, Jews than Christians, and so forth." But what might matter, what should matter, is that whiteness is a real force that you've personally benefited from in one way or another if you're white."

Except she forgot that Jews being regarded as "less white" has apparently given them far more benefit than if they were "more white". Epic fail.

Well i must say since Obama has been president Racism is at an all time high( so much for change), say what you will but a lot of the blacks were better off when Bush was president(at least they had jobs); what surprises me the most is the racism that comes from the gay community, i commented on this b4, they fighting for equality and yet they seem to think its ok to have racist views; sometimes i think they only interested in the equality thing when its conveneint for them to push their own agenda.
