Why do some guys brag about who they ignore?

This is not about the pros and cons of using the forum ignore feature. That has been discussed extensively. What I find curious is why a few often have to mention who they have blocked. I can see it in the case of an argument when one decides to have nothing further to do with the other, and mentions he is going to use the ignore feature. I'm referring to mentioning it gratuitously in a thread where the parties are not directly involved with each other. Seems like it's bragging, but why brag about something that does not involved an accomplishment?

Saw a real obvious case of this yesterday where a message was created only for this purpose. A member creates a message in a thread including approximately a dozen quotes (I was not involved, btw.) This guy highlights in red the username of the guy he blocked wherever it appeared in the quote string, 5 or 6 times, and, then took pride in referring to the blocked member as "it". He said, "I didn't know it was still around. The forum block works so well for me." I'm sure he has also blocked me, as he has mentioned that he blocks everyone whose politics he disagrees with.

It's just one forum behavior I find curious. It really seems to be broadcasting immaturity, just like one first grader sticking his tongue out to another then putting his hands over his eyes to let the other one know if he responds, it won't be seen.

I don't ignore people, people ignore me.
