I'm a freshmen in college this year and i have just let myself go. I would always go for a run, and go to the gym everyday back home. But all of that just stopped and I've began to eat a lot more than usual.

My question is. What do i do to get back into that natural routine of running and working out. and are there any tips that you guys can give to me to get back into shape...

    feel free to message me

so you're telling us that you stopped running and going to the gym and then started eating more... "suddenly" there was a weight gain. and you can't figure out what to do about it to make it change?

I find that most people who gain the Freshmen 15 do so as a result of socializing: late night trips with your dorm buddies to the dining hall, pizza and snacks in the dorm commons for movie night, all the meet-n-greet mixers that serve up free food, etc.

Set aside time during the week for a workout routine, schedule it like a class if you need to. If your friends wanna hang out during that time, tell them you have class.

Try getting into a normal routine. One thing I noticed was that when my day wasn't planned, I was less likely to go workout. I would have all the "free time" in the world and would end up squandering it all away.

When you're eating, just be cognizant of what you're eating. In the dining halls especially, it can be hard to realize just how much you can consume (as well as WHAT you consume!)

I would try to make a workout schedule. Look at your classes, and create times when you can go for a run or hit your school's gym. That's what I did when I gained around 20 pounds early in my college years. I have since lost that and then some thanks to working out diligently.

Is there a rec center at your college? When i was an undergrad, a bunch of guys from my dorm would workout together after dinner at the rec center. Became an intense competition but kept everyone on track with their workouts.

it's hard especially if you live on campus... food in the cafe is a buffet and typically NOT very healthy for you...

Eat but don't gorge yourself. Eat more veges. Stay away from the soft drinks. Little tips like this really does help.
What I disciplined myself to do was to eat LOADS of bell peppers (in the salad bar), they actually are effective in losing weight.

get yourself back to running and working out. there's never an excuse to stop running or working out.

ummm... run during the day? Does your campus have open gym hours where there is equipment? Use it.

Do you live on campus or far away? Plan your campus hours to include gym visits. You have all the resources, any failure to exploit them is you own choice.
