I get asked this question all the time.

My adoring fansHow do I dress nicely in preppy style?

    - Polos, button-ups, suits, blazers, waistcoats, ties, cardigans, pullover knits, chinos, jeans, brogues, loafers, boat shoes, and top-siders are the key pieces in this style.

    - Classic patterns such as stripes and plaid are often used in classic colours such as sky blue, light yellow, lime green, pink, khaki, kelly green, cardinal red, navy, burgundy, chocolate brown, etc.

    - As you're playing with your style and learning what works for you, try to stick with simpler colour schemes; for example, pair pastels with lighter shades of khaki, bright colours with medium-blue denim, or deep colours with dark blue denim or chocolate browns.
When you begin to get a better feel for what colours work together you can try more advanced colour schemes and mix hues.

    - Same goes for pattern. Pattern-mixing is difficult to do until you really have a good eye for what works and what doesn't.

    - In the summer it's common for preppy guys to go sockless and roll the cuffs of their jeans and shirts.

    tumblr_lkdjj9nmtI1qd1a9fo1_500.jpg

    - During months in the spring and fall, if you get a bit warm wearing your sweater tie the sleeves loosely around your neck/shoulders. NEVER wrap a sweater around your waist.

    - For fall 2011, neo-prep is really in. This is a modern look at prep, which has been influenced strongly by athletic-wear. Sporting the bright colours and multiple patterns is for the daring guys who know that they can pull it off with swag.

    No, that's the douchebag look.
Do not be fooled - Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, American Eagle, and Aeropostale are not real prep style.
Prep is Tommy Hilfiger, Polo Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, J. Crew, etc.

I thought this too at first, but you wean yourself into it.

First, I had deodorant. When I was 16 I got my first bottle of cologne. At 20 my best friend introduced me to body spray. Eventually she gave me a tub of hair product as a gift and I use it sometimes. I hardly shave though, I just use a trimmer.
Then I acquired a collection of button-up shirts to wean myself off t-shirts, comfortable ones at first and eventually dressier ones. Same with pants. I still wear jeans often but I have been collecting other types of pants such as chinos. You don't have to choke yourself either - if you notice in the D&G collection (brighter ones) the top button of the guys' collar is unbuttoned and the tie is just pulled somewhat tightly.

His studded chucks are quite beautiful.

The problem isn't that he's mixing a suit jacket with short overalls, the problem is he's mixing a hideous, cheap polyester jacket from the JC Penny clearance rack circa 1993 with cheap, hideous overalls from the Dickies rack at Home Depot.

The pic is a fashion don't.

    Very proud of you Anduru.

Remember preppy looks are always very clean cut. Also look at your skin tone and see what color schemes match up for you.

I started my "starting a business" class today and my teacher said it's a great idea to start a youtube men's style blog to make a name for myself.

I also left it to the basics so that people don't get intimidated by not knowing what colours to wear, though if they are that scared of fashion then I guess they wouldn't read this anyways lolol

The thing about layers is that you can take off the article of clothing and still look good.

Layers usually work best for Fall/Winter scenario.

Oh and Anduru I want to be a guest star pretty please.

Plus you and moi need a shopping trip!

I don't get it. Everything looks like it was extracted either from the back of the closet, or the bottom of the bin. I mean, I get the whole multi-tonal layering thing. I did survive the 80s, but most of these people look as if they learned to dress from vagrants. Some old clohes were meant to be lost in time.

Having said that, I am crushing the blue cardigan with the yellow. (And I'm loving the jacket too...lol).

WHY do guys not tuck their shirts in?
It looks like you are half-dressed.
I could see a T-shirt left out, and maybe a polo shirt, but a button-down shirt? Please...
