Here's a quote out of an email from my Southern-Baptist Mom who now lives directly across the interstate from Focus on the Family headquarters in CO:

"I got the lovely card from Bill Sat. and he included John in it. It is a very special card. Thank you. I was emailed a great card from John, hope he played it to you Bill. ... I love you both. Love, MOM"

Some days I still can't believe I kept even one parent after coming out annd standing my ground. I hope the rest of you are at least as fortunate.

I have already talked to my Mom today. She thinks the sun rises and sets on my partner! I also phoned my sister, and the next on my list is my brother's wife. All have been very accepting.

This reminds me of the time I came out to my mum by angry text messages on my 30th birthday. I didn't speak to her (nor sms'd her until Father's Day). Obviously I skipped the Happy Mother's Day bit but texted her a "Happy Father's Day" instead (which I find appropriate since she was widowed and never re-married since my dad passed away when I was 9).
Anyway her reply was, "Why are you greeting me this? Don't you have a papa there to send this to?"
And all broken bridges were mended once more.
She asks me from time to time if I found a boyfriend alreadyicon_wink.gif

My parents were crazy about my first real bf. We were together for seven years. I was fairly sure when we broke up that my parents were going to keep him as their son and give me the heave-ho.
