Inspired by Timbales' thread, what are the best songs for karaoke? Do you have any favorites or go-to songs?

Well, there can be only one choice (especially this week):

I sang a cappella in college, and semi-professionally for 2 years afterwards. My "go-tos"

    Superman by Five for Fighting
Anything by Maroon 5 - but This Love, and She Will be Loved

We went and did Karaoke a couple weeks ago, and I rocked out to Adele's - Rolling in the Deep

I think you're brave even to attempt it. The pace is a bit frantic in parts!

Rolling in the Deep would be awesome for karaoke! I've just started listening to it and it's a great one to belt along with. Kinda like Sherly Crow - If It Makes You Happy.

Santeria's awesome. They used to do it at an open mike night at a university pub sometimes and everyone would sing along, whether they knew the words or not.

Trollileo you must like the falsetto songs!

Livin on a Prayer is a trap for a lot of guys, they don't realize how high it gets, especially after the keychange. And then they get lost between the octave they were singing and jumping down to the next one down and it's awful.

I would choose a song by a girl pretty much every time. The ladies have more fun. I did Don't Speak once, it wasn't very good. It's probably my least favourite of their songs. Kind of a downer, but No Doubt was my favourite and felt an obligation.

I was planning on singing Happy Birthday, Baby to a female friend on her birthday but out plans for karaoke changed and never got to. DANG IT.

That one intimidates me. If the backing vocals aren't there or are weak, it would be a disaster.

It's cuz of Glee. Young people wouldn't even know it without Glee.

I bet Karaoke bars are full of Glee songs nowadays. Not that I'm hating Glee, I watch it and like a handful of the songs they've done, but there are more songs than what Glee has covered!

Does your karaoke bar adjust the key of the song if you want it?

I did a duet once with a friend of Something To Talk About. Pretty fun.
