Just got back from seeing WARRIOR and it's fantastic -- best sports movie in a very long time.

It's probably the best sports movie in at least a decade and only falters near the end as it struggles to resolve its main conflict in the context of its "big fight" finale. But 98% plays like gangbusters. Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton both give star-making performances here. Hardy channels a young DeNiro (which means he's channeling a young Brando as well) and gives us a nice glimpse into how truly menacing he's going to be as Bane next summer. Edgerton's character is less flashy but also easier for the audience to relate to. And holy shit is Nick Nolte awesome as their recovering alcoholic father. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

One of the best movies that I have seen all year. This movie might do for Nick Nolte that The Wrestler did for Mickey Rourke! Very good performance!

Nick Nolte in Peaceful Warrior, Affliction (one of my all time favs). I am looking forward to this movie.
