Vanity Searches

Just a few minutes ago, I did a vanity search on Google and I was surprised by the results. On one online forum I discovered an argument between a few posters who were discussing a quote of mine in a newspaper article. The reporter had essentially pared down my long-winded response to her question. It wasn't exactly a misquote, but it sure was taken out of context by the people on this forum.

I also found one of the worst photos I've ever taken on a site for a charitable organization, a freelance article I sold without syndicated rights on a syndicate site, and a whole bunch of people in Georgia with my last name -- long lost cousins! Now I'll have somewhere to stay when I start stalking Obscenewish.

Has anyone else ever done a vanity search? Try it and tell me what you come up with.

jprich brought something to my attention recently that was rather disconcerting... there's a place on the internet that gives out my name at birth, rather than the name i assumed when i was adopted...

Yeah, but I was sniffing out people who may know of my plans, and thus need to be snuffed out.

"go google yourself" is the new fuck you....

My name is made up of two last names, but my fist is not common. I get a lot of people who have my name reversed. Stuff that actually pertains to me is mostly press release I wrote.

All searches online of my real name reveal my father, as we share the same name. If you search my nickname and last name, there are scant entries and none reveal much about me.

Googling my name reveals some pieces of my previous work/volunteer life, a few other folks burdened (" ") with the same name, and numerous references to two highly successful children's books with my exact name in the title.

I didn't find anything about me...mostly just some guy who invented some vitamin supplement, and some artist with a "II" at the end of his name.

I didn't find anything on myself, but I didn't dig very deep...I guess I'm a little surprised since my last name is not a very common spelling.

Just a bunch of tabloid bullshit... Where I'm taking my next holiday, who I'm sleeping with, how much money my last album made, yada-yada-yada...

My name is far too common. I get 3,090,000 hits when I google it. There are at least two colleges and universities, a signer of the the Declaration of Independence, the creator of the first internet worm virus, and various criminals and malcontents that share my name. I'm sure I'm in there somewhere.icon_lol.gif

I get a pro baseball player, a college basketball player, a professor at Stanford and some politician in Orange County. Personally, nothing, which I suppose is a good thing.

Some guy who is fighting the Jehovah's Witnesses in Wilmington has the same name as me.

I show up about fifth on the list of 119,000, not to bad.
