After a good workout I love to hit the showers. My muscles are a little bigger,I'm feeling more masculine, and being in a room with open showers is a turn on for me(maybe it's the male bonding thing). I look forward to a shower, and I wouldn't even think of going home in my car all sweaty.I figure I might as well use their water, since my dues are paying for it.But I notice, maybe more than half the guys go home after their workout without a shower.Maybe my grade/ h.s./college days plays a part in this ,because nude showers were always mandatory after sports.I just feel better, all refreshed when I leave the club. Just curious as to why so many guys choose to leave the club all sweaty.I suspect two things, lack of privacy, and the gay thing that keeps some guys from not taking showers.

Tough choice... turning down aggressive cruisy foreign not-my-types or depositing a "funk" in my car seat.

    Hmm..

I had a college friend from Florida who had a "funky" car. I couldn't hitch a ride with him in the wintertime. "are you crying?" Didn't want to tell him the smell was bad.

He was straight but oh, so very Italian.

I'm very uncomfortable in public showers. I did use to shower in a gym with private showers in the locker room. My current one is only 5 min away and doesn't have private showers. I am also very uncomfortable with nude people all around me.

I shower at the gym. I've usually got something going on afterward so it's just easier that way. They're individual shower stalls so it's a bit more private though, there are the creeps that feel the need to invade your privacy.

Always - I like getting cleaned up after my workout - it makes me feel great and I get to hang out with pumped up naked guys. NP with my or anyone elses nudity-

In high school, post gym class showers were not mandatory therefore no one ever took any. I started taking showers at University though since I'd usually go in the morning before or in between classes. At both the universities I attended, the locker rooms had open showers. It bothered me at the beginning but after a while it became so normal I never thought twice about it. My current gym has individual showers and its in the gay village so i think its better that way lol

I never use public 'wet areas'. Germs and fungi abound. I work in medicine and treat a lot of pathology... some of which emanates from steamrooms, saunas, locker rooms and showers. I shower before getting in the bed to sleep, so I'm not gonna shower after working out and again before bed. I don't sweat that much and even if i do i don't typically stink... i use antibacterial soap and deodorant. If I'm really sweaty, I can put a towel on my car seat. and I have no desire to show off my naked body to people I have no interest in emotionally or sexually. if that blows up your skirt, knock yourself out.

Of course - getting nude and wet is the reward.

I shower after a workout or a swim. I'm not looking to get turned on by the other guys there, I'm just looking to get clean.

Tho if there is a hotty in a stall nearby, I might sneak a peak... icon_twisted.gif

No problem showing at the gym. My gym has dividers between shower heads but no curtains or doors. Some buds of mine take the opportunity to have sex at the gym including in the showers - I just don't get it.

I stopped showering at the gym because I tired of athlete's foot, jock itch, and creepers.

I almost always shower after I workout. I usually walk to the gym since it's near my house, however, so in the summertime it's often not worth showering if I'm just going to get sweaty and gross walking home. My gym has pretty nice facilities, private(ish) shower stalls and nice shampoo and body wash. That there are hot guys walking around in towels is a bonus. icon_smile.gif

So Tinactin doesn't get rid of creepers, huh? Takes care of the other two!

I almost always shower after I work out. It satisfies my voyeur fetish a lot. I never want to be hit on nor do I want to hit on anyone... just satisfies part of me.

Also I must preface that my gym is really clean all the time..I wouldn't do it if it was dirty.

I cool down and dry off and then drive home and THEN shower. I avoid public showers or having to spend more time in a public restroom than needed.

Yeah, I feel bad for so many guys who don't feel comfortable using the shower.
I understand, it was a little bit wierded out by it first, though quickly became blase about it. The bummer about people who feel the need to go home to shower is it just makes it that much harder to fit a workout into their day.

I love having the option of going over lunch or in the morning, but you really need to be able to shower at the gym for that.

No one tells you you stink, and it's probably mild enough that you can find guys who think it's sexy. But the rest of us know...

I always shower after cardio. Occasionally after lifting, but not always. I tend to shower post-workout more in the winter, since I'm also more likely to use the steam/sauna then.

My gyms have stalls with curtains, so there's plenty of privacy.

LOL. When I leave the gym I'm done for the day.... I go straight home so i don't give anyone the opportunity to 'smell me' before I choose to shower. And don't feel bad for me because I'm 'uncomfortable' showering in public. I'm quite content with my body and junk... i'm just not desperate enough in my life to add the gym shower to the list of places I need to get my jollies or feel 'admired'. and choosing to shower at home is an excuse to not work out only for people who find it easy to blow off the gym anyway. appreciate the concern though.

I go to 3 different health clubs in the same chain. All 3 have no privacy, just open individual stalls. One has six stalls directly facing six others. Can be uncomfortable sometimes because some of the trolls blatantly stare. They are usually overweight and spend hrs going back and forth from the steamroom to the showers, usually with swim trunks on(never see them work out though). I try to ignore them. And I think this is one of the reasons some guys don't take showers after a workout

I've never seen that situation happen at my gym. I have seen it happen once on vacation. It was at the Provincetown Gym in ptown though, so it could be expected.
