Do you have a favorite? What is your favorite character, song/scene/number, actor/actress? etc. Which performances have you seen? Where? Share your thoughts and experiences.

(If you don't like musicals, please no negativity.)

South Pacific or State Fair. Couldn't decide.

Between the two versions of State Fair I think I like the 1945 version better than the 1962 version though they each have something to offer. I have seen both versions of State Fair the exact number of times because since I have them on DVD I'll watch both back to back. The South Pacific one I am talking about is the Mitzi Gaynor 1958 version not the tv version.

My favorite song from State Fair is "isn't it Kinda Fun". Here are both versions from 1945 and 1962. I like how they changed it.

South Pacific is about racism. The tv version does not have the song "Happy Talk".

The Rocky Horror Picture Show !!!

I adore the song 'America' from West Side Story

The Aloof and Knockout scene from Sweet Charity

    Cell Block Tango from Chicago

And finally ! Moulin Rouge <3333333

Of course, as a kid, I also loved Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mary Poppins and the Sound of Music.

    Anything Goes

Current Broadway production is probably the best musical I have seen in 25 years of New York theater-going.

Hairspray - while I LOVE the movie musical, the stage version is one step above. Will forever be my favorite Broadway show. I saw it three times in NYC and attended it's final performance when it closed.

    Others I enjoy:

    Phantom of the Opera
Beauty and the Beast (so sad this one is gone from Broadway - I know i'd go see it again if it came back)
    Chicago
    Mary Poppins

I've seen quite a few Broadway shows - just recently saw Sister Act which was a lot of fun.
