That movie freaked me the fuck out! The camera kept lingering on surfaces that people touch like door handles and a bowl of peanuts... it really demonstrated just how much contact we come into with other people's germs. One of the characters mentioned that on average people touch their faces about 4,000 times per day. Once you hear something like that, you start to notice yourself doing it.

After it was over, I went straight to the bathroom and washed my hands for 25 minutes.

As much as I travel all the time and work in malls and in airports, in addition to already being constantly disgusted by public restrooms, I don't think I'll be seeing this lol.

Yeah I like horror movies, but this seems way too realistic and actually scary. Give me blood and gore anyway, but a global disease outbreak.... No way I'm seeing this. It's too real and could easily happen.

I thought it was way scarier than any horror movie I've ever seen!

I've never really been a germophobe, probably because I never get sick, so the movie wasn't scary to me at all. It was just interesting to watch--like a documentary or something. For some reason, I didn't have any emotional attachment to the characters either, so the movie dragged on a bit. icon_confused.gif

I liked it better when it was called Outbreak.

You obviously haven't seen it because other than the basic premise of a disease outbreak they are nothing alike.

I haven`t seen the movie yet(it sounds good, though). It`s interesting how Hollywood`s holocaust-of-choice these days seems to have natural origins rather than man made.

All I want to know is if most of the world's population died. If they didn't well it's a waste of time!

My holocaust-of-choice is still the original, made famous by MY people, the Jewish people. icon_wink.gif

Years ago when my niece and nephew were young, I explained the importance of washing their hands by demonstrating a very gross visual. I pretended to sneeze wetly in my hands and touch the doorknob. Then I pretended to be one of them to touch the doorknob and dip my boogery fingers in the bowl of popcorn they were eating. They immediately spit out the popcorn and RAN to the bathbroom to WASH THEIR HANDS!

Sometimes ya gotta be gross to get your point across as did the movie.

I HIGHLY doubt that. Do you or any one you know touch his or her face that many times in a minute? Even the movie itself or any movie you have watched, did any of the characters touch their faces that many times?

Go people watch, test that theory and let us know.

I strongly suggest that the OP never take a Microbiology class/lab, especially ones that revolve around human pathology and contagions.

Just saw Contagion last night after hearing people say how scary it was. Well, it's scary alright, but not in a fun way. It's the most depressing movie I've ever seen. It's grim from start to finish with absolutely no comic relief until the very end, but by then you're ready to end your life anyway. If I had went alone, I think I would have just walked out. Not because it's not well done, because it is, but because of the whole mood of the film.

Also, people with OCD about germs irritate the hell out of me, and I'm guessing this will make them even worse.
