Good gawd.. thats EXACTLY what was displayed by the majority of the candidates at the debate tonight. Huntsman, Paul and Romney are the only ones that didnt fall to this ideal.. the crowd however was vicious.

    All you republicans.. listen up!

Miller referred to comments made by Rep. Mark Hilton, R-Catawba, earlier this year during a closed-door GOP caucus meeting in which the microphones were left on and the sound was accidentally piped into the Legislative Building pressroom. During the caucus, Hilton said that the proposed same-sex marriage ban was needed to help conservative groups “get their ground game working.

I truly feel sorry for all sensible, moderate conservatives/Republicans because of what has happened to their natural party of choice. How they can defend it is beyond me(other than they can`t admit they`ve got it badly wrong!)

However, this isn`t just an accident. They`ve allowed their party to be invaded and colonized by the fundamentalists and taken these people`s money/enthusiasm/organization for advantage, but have paid(and will continue to pay) a high price as the Republican party becomes ever more ideologically extreme, xenophobic, and fundamentalist.Rather than criticizing the Democrats for their less than one hundred percent consistency on equal rights, they should fight back. But they seem unable or unwilling to do so.Either way,if they do,they`re in for one hell of a fight! A great deal is at stake, not least the USA`s leading role for all democracies.

I thought my views about American democracy imperilled by Christian fundamentalism were too pessimistic, too ill informed, but I was wrong. It is under threat. The point about the religious right`s unwillingness to compromise is crucial. They`ve replaced reason with deep unshakeable, unquestionable belief - and that`s a recipe for trouble.Without 'reasonableness','give and take',no democracy can survive.

The religious right have a non-democratic vision for the USA,as Mike Lofgren states,'a place of the Salem Witch Trials'.Has anyone read 'The Handmaid`s Tale' by Margaret Atwood'?

If anyone ever doubted the founding fathers` separation of Church and State,we are seeing its sense in these years.

It is ironic we are marking the anniversary of 9/11 and the threats of politicized,Islamic fundamentalism to the American way of life.

The one good piece in the article is about what happens if they lose in the 2012 presidential/other elections;splitting and reforming around Huntsman(or similar). The Conservative party in Britain had a similar period of extremism following their defeat in the General Election of 1997.Camerron had a hard fight to bring them back to the centre ground before they could even be considered again for government. One of his emblematic policies was 'civil partnerships' for gays and lesbians.

Extreme civil religion, perhaps? To these individuals, America is THEIR god; the military is THEIR god.

Religious fundamentalism of ANY kind is extremely dangerous and this is what America has come closer to in the ten years since 9/11. Have we learned anything since 9/11/2001?

I feel grieved for Huntsman, Paul, and Romney; they are the only ones displaying ANY kind of reason, intelligence, and thoughtful thinking; the other candidates are driven by fear, anger, hatred, and their worship of country and military.

Yes. We've learned to fear anyone or anything that is different from us. The terrorists won.

Exactly. I posted some thoughts in a post about 9/11 and said, if I remember correctly, that the terrorists are very smart and knew that by doing the least amount of damage, they could bring down the world's most powerful nation. They didn't have to send nuclear bombs to our major cities; no, they simply had to drive a few planes into symbols of our nation and destroy them and...presto!

Oh, but I suspect most of these Repubs here don't have a second-class status. By day they are straight, and enjoy all those privileged benefits of being in the good ole boys club. They are only gay when they come onto online sites like this, where they preach to us how we should all vote Republican and surrender all our US civil rights. So we can be fakes & pretenders like they are.

What I find curious, Mark, is that I've never heard one of them say what they actually have done for the gay community. They tell us how wrong it is to be out, they tell us how terrible things like gay Pride are, they tell us how much being proud is wrong.

Do they ever tell us anything they have done for the gay community themselves? Or else they diss us, and say "I don't have to help any other gays like you to prove I'm gay."

Perhaps not, but do you have any evidence that you ARE gay, or have EVER done anything gay, other than empty claims? Simply saying "I have a BF" and "I like guys" simply doesn't cut it. Not when you support anti-gay legislation in the US, meant to hurt gays.

I & others here post pics, and links, of gay things we do and support. Not that everybody has to do that, but if you're gonna make politics your main reason for being here, then please give us the full picture. Do these guys EVER do anything that's actively pro-gay? If they have, I haven't heard them say it. Nor provide some evidence.

Oh, Arty Farty, you do like to show your true colors on occasion don't you. Please cite examples of members here who, as you claim, "by day are straight" and who are, as you claim, "are only gay when they come onto online sites like this". Please cite examples of members here who have specifically preached to "surrender all our US civil rights". Please cite anything that might prove to us that your favorite scent is not...

Now now, Todd sent us all those pictures in a play-by-play coverage of his Atlantis cruise.

I'd say that was doing something for the RJ community, if not worldwide Gayhood.

Yeah --- and glad to help!!!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Well, I guess Art doesn't want to come clean and back up his charges, so I can't let the opportunity go to waste and must report on exactly how he comes by his information. Precisely at 4PM each day, that would be 1600 hrs to a very senior military person as Art, the Wilton Watering Hole has their "try to be happy hour". Art orders two large Wilton Whiskey Sours, which they say fit him quite well. After having a couple, Art goes out to the patio, finds a used towel, and drapes it over a chaise lounge, then plops all of him, or almost all anyway, down for a brief doze. It happens during the boundary between inebriated consciousness and twilight sleep. Art hears Morse code, at precisely 21 words per minute (WPM), giving him all the information of those right-wingers who have infiltrated Real Jock.

They say this is a miracle, as Art washed out of his ham radio novice class, which required only 5 WPM. But those Wilton Whiskey Sours are magic, they say.

[Fine print: The above is a complete fiction. It is not intended to give any RJ member, whose feelings might be hurt, a reason to complain to the Admin that his reputation was besmirched by the suggestion that he drinks alcohol or did not do well in his ham radio class.]

The above post illustrates two essential truths:
Being mean doesn't = being funny.
Right-wingers should never ever try to be funny.
