I see a lot of Cher, Kesha, Kyle Minogue, Madonna, and other straight women who make gay guys feel strong. But are there any straight men who make you feel like being stronger, more confident, and staying in touch with your inner guy? Guys who make you think, "I need to think and be more like him". And guys who show vulnerability without being dramatic and in despair.

For me, it's Chris Meloni, Hugh Jackman, and Ray Lewis (Ravens). These guys can defend themselves, make people around them stronger, and read a bedtime story to a child without hesitation. I also think "Bill" in True Blood does a good job of showing masculinity/manliness whether he is angry or is saddened by his love for Sookie.

This is NOT a fem bashing thread so don't turn it into that, please.

Great question. Women role models have never done it for me...Duh!...but guys like Richard Gere, President Obama, Henry Fonda and Gregory Peck (I know I know, I'm showing my age...) and the movie roles they played, inspire me: decency, strong and gentle, sometimes says what needs to be said...

David Cross - articulate, easily intellectually enraged, accepting, open-minded, progressive

The rest of my answers are fictional characters but they still taught me a lot about life, strategery, poise, and other things: Voldemort, Saruman, Benjamin Lafayette Sisko, Darth Vader, and Vinny Gambini.

Hugh Jackman, definitely, he played a gay man in a stage show and he was comfortable with it, I went to see him and at no point did I feel offended by the straight guy playing the gay because he didn't "ham it up" or use any stereotypical bullshit that wasn't part of his persona, hehe he even came down into the audience and people where touching his arse I was so jealous I wasn't down in the front area hahaha

I like Hugh because he's just himself, regardless of his sexual orientation (or the sexual orientation of the role he's playing) no pretense of being something more then what he is.

Trollileo saidAdam Levine. Matt Bellamy (supposedly). Serj Tankian. J.K. Rowling (yes, she's a woman, but I don't give a shit). John Williams. Jeff Nelsen.

If you didn't notice, most of them are musicians.

Yeah, many musicians have that appeal. Daughtry and D'Angelo are in that category for sure.

Bear Grylls is my hero. He's former military, a devoted family man, a Christian and he doesn't mind getting dirty. He can handle himself in any adverse situation you could imagine.

"Empower"? Why are we using jargon developed by crazy academics from post-colonial and gender feminist "studies"? I, for one, will not identify myself as one of their "victimized subalterns" whom they would just as soon put in one of their ideological game preserves to be poked and prodded and otherwise observed.

Anyway, if I were to pick one, I'd say Peter North. That guy's voluminous loads are astounding.

my best friend, he's a stand-up guy with useful knowledge that gets things done

raistlin majere + john constantine + tony stark - underdogs that work to understand/control the arcane and destory their enemies, into it

linus torvalds, richard stallman, started linux + perl respectively, putting the power of software development into the people's hands without bleeding them dry on licensing fees

katt williams, yeah he's got flaws but he's still my check on when to not take things too seriously

Very possible. I guess he's done gay-for-pay before.

I wouldn't think he is necessarily gay - his loads are so big and thick and fast and furious that he doesn't care who or what he cums on - he simply must jizz, as surely as the sun must rise and water must run downhill.

Peter North started out as a gay porn star fully.

On topic: Professor X and Cyclops. No, they're not real, but there are no people with integrity in the real world.

Andy Whitfield of Spartacus inspired me today. The passing of that young, gifted man this past weekend makes me want to make the most of every new day. That's the best way to honor those gone too soon.

"This is NOT a fem bashing thread so don't turn it into that, please."
    Good luck on that!

Because we have explored all the gay icons ad nauseum... Ricky Martin, Anderson Cooper, Doogie, Gaga and on.... I'd like to see some diversity in our "icons"...

So far, the thread is going well I think. Great answers.

    Rafael Nadal!

He is definitely a true warrior! He is so focused and determined when he is on court no matter what situation he is under. He fights for every single point. Watching him playing, especially when he makes a winner and fist-pumps in the air, is like giving myself an adrenaline shot!

    e4c5tbdj.jpg

He has great sportsmanship too. I have never seen him fake a injury to stall the play or blame his failure on injuries. He always gives his opponent full credits. What a wonderful player!

Too bad he lost to Djokovic today, who is almost invincible this year.

Because I fucking wanted to use the word "empower". If one word caused you to write all the psychobabble you wrote in your first paragraph, that's your baggage... not mine bud.

However, the guy you chose to empower you, Peter North, is a solid choice. I hadn't thought of him. Although, I would counter that he is at least bi since he was one of the original "gay for pay" guys. Well done. Time to google him and then go to bed.

I can't stand DIVAs or celebrities. My men in my life are my minister, my neighbors, my sport partners, my straight friends.
