Before I go off to college, I've been bothering my parents about taking me somewhere not in Socal. So my dad finally relented and allowed me to go to Norcal and after spending a week there, I'm in love with the area! The sights, the weather, the people; it's simply breathtaking. It was my first time in San Francisco and I found it to be fascinating. I want to move up there and live there for the rest of my life haha.

For those living in Norcal, why did you end up living there or why would you want to leave?

I came last year to SF from Vancouver for a job. Its a nice city but wouldn't want to spend the rest of my life here. To urban.

I dig it. Just moved back here from Ny and I was surprised by how much I missed the Bay Area. The weather is hard to beat!

I'm glad you enjoyed the yaaay ureeuh! I've got family up there so I'm always in & out of the bay. I completely agree that the weather's unbeatable! I've had talks with a friend about moving into an artist loft or something of the sorts a couple years from now. Hope it pulls through!

I drove down the whole length of California a few years ago. The scenery in the north is stunning. I love the slow transition from green to sand as you travel further south.

I was born here (just south of SF on the Peninsula) and I liked it but didn't fully appreciate it until I left in the late 90's for about ten years. I was homesick sometimes for the sights and activities of The City. I also missed my friends, the Napa Valley, Lake Tahoe, Marin, the Stanford community, Monterey, Pebble Beach, and all the countless things there are to do here. Finally - - - the high tech and biotech industries are here, and this is truly where a lot of good things are happening.

I lived in Monterey for three years and moved up to the city last summer. San Francisco really is a pleasant place to live - especially in terms of climate.

It also has an extremely high concentration of great restaurants, cultural venues, sporting events and a rich racial, ethnic and linguistic diversity not easily found elsewhere. Love it or hate it, it also has an unparalleled openness, freedom, and equality afforded to the LGBT community.

I've heard people say, "A person really should live in San Francisco at least once in his/her life. "

I would agree with that, but with one caveat:

Maximize your enjoyment of San Francisco by having at least one of the following:

    1. Youth
    2. Money
    Or, preferably...
    3. Both.

Move here when you are young, aspirational and moving up in your career.
Or.....make your fortune elsewhere and move here to enjoy all of the city's wonderful refinements.

    The climate.
The pretension of sophistication of the locals.
