This seems to be a common thing on these sites.. It would be interesting to hear what people have experienced in these situations...

Those sites are useless in SoFla. It's much easier to find hookups without them.

This sounds like this needs a thread of its own.

I get annoyed with the fake hot guys with one picture that make you think they are interested in chatting with you and then end up saying "check out my pics on this site, it's the only site I trust to show my pics" etc. One time I just messed with them by asking annoying questions and getting them irritated like how they irritated me. He gave up trying to get me to join the site. Heh!

I totally agree. adam4adam, manhunt, grindr are just a waste of time. I think the gym is the best way to meet guys.

I have had at least 10 profiles made without my permission on sites from guys who stole my pictures.

In fact, I joined Realjock because some dude in Washington stole my pictures from Facebook and created a profile for himself. One time, seriously, I had ME friend me on Facebook. Really dude??? Really??? Like I wouldn't notice the guy friending me looks exactly LIKE me???

My estimate is about 1/4 of all the hot guy profiles are stolen pictures. Its why I never hesitate to cam with someone... I dont mind proving I am what I say and I want to see if they are, too.

That's crazy funny as hell but also unfortunate as well, Alpha.

I'm sorry weird folks did that to you but in an odd sort of way it's flattering.

They say imitation is a form of flattery.

grindr is a ok. met a guy on there once... looked NOTHING like his profile pic, of course, he was a weirdo.

a4a is not too bad here, but the only draw back is that there is nothing but fat heavily overweighted UGLY guys on there... but i guess it just depends on your location right? (location location location)

So did you want to be your own friend? Did you accept your own friend request?

What is this "real life" thing you speak of? Is it available on Android?

I've had a few experiences like this.

First in new Orleans during college I had just recently realized I was gay and didn't really know how to meet guys (still don't really know how to meet guys but whatever lol) so I was using these sights a lot.

Anyway had a hot guy interested so I went to his house. Walked in the door and the guy was old, bald, fat and generally not what a 20 year old gay guy would want lol. So I told him I wasn't interested and left.

The next isn't a fake profile just a disturbing thing I noticed.

A real hot guy in Brooklyn sent me a message and he wanted to hookup. His profile said safe only. Well for some reason I look up his name on Google. Well appatently he is a bareback porn star, so I tell him no thanks. Now I have hooked up with a few guys who had done porn and with people on xtube... I mean I'm not judgmental or a prude at all, but I'm not putting myself at risk with someone who has porn vids advertising how many loads he can take in a row.

I do the same thing. Chat with other guys and then offer to cam so they can see the current me and I can see them. removes any doubt. Even legit photos can give the wrong impression. I mean dont we all choose the most flattering photos?

Yes but even so I still get that I look much better in person than my pictures. Some people are photogenic and others are not.

Grindr, a4a, and manhunt are not too much different from real life, in my opinion: you win some, you lose some. Or more accurately, you win some, you lose most. That's true whether meeting guys in bars/at the gym or on a4a and grindr.

It's not as if meeting people in "real life" lessens the failure rate. Because if it were that easy to meet quality dudes without a technological assist, none of the hookup sites would exist.

The worst thing about online profiles is that you can't really know whether someone is worth your time based on still photos, stats, and a paragraph; I've met guys who were way hotter than their photos, and guys who photograph a lot (A LOT) better than they actually look.

But sometimes they can weed out undesirables more quickly. For example, I don't have to waste a night talking to you before finding out we're incompatible because you're only into barebacking. icon_razz.gif

So there's trade-offs, pros and cons.

Awkward. So you have seen me in person yet I have never seen you? That's a long way to fly to stalk someone. Not to mention extremely creepy. This lady doth protest too much me thinks.

Yea like I said it's creepy not funny, keep laughing, I think being stalked is funny too.
