Note: I'm not just posting this to advertise that I'm looking for a roommate, but if anyone catches this who could help me out, that would be awesome.

In my quest to find a roommate, I've done a little bit of digging around the internet and haven't turned up much that I like. Am I looking in the wrong places? and let me join for free, but I'm pretty limited on both unless I pay for an upgraded membership. Neither one gives me the impression that they've got quality I would be willing to pay for.

Craigslist... continues to creep me out while somehow fascinating and entertaining me. I'm not sure how viable of an option that really is.

Do you guys know of a better option that I haven't found yet?

    RJ needs a roommies board...

Ask friends and friends of friends. It kinda helps that your potential roommate is someone that you kinda know. It helps filter out the crazies and the potential thieves.

Please don't move into an apartment with someone you don't know. If you need a cheap place to live then rent a room from someone advertising and make sure that room has a lock for which you have the only keys. OR - rent a cheap weekly hotel room.

That will give you time to take the good advice of xrichx and network to find a roommate that you already know at someone that knows them.

I don't think there's really any good place to do this. I've roomed with friends before and it's turned out terribly, yet the best roomy I've ever had, I got by posting a Craigslist ad. You just have to maximize the avenues through which you're meeting people, and bide your time the best you can until you find someone you hope will be a good fit.

My boyfriend and I are living with a total stranger, right now. It's ok.. But there are some bumps in the road from time to time. I'd much rather live with people I can be friends with, and this guy just seems to have such a hard time being social with us (and he works 3rd shift which makes it that much harder). When I find a place to move to, I'll be posting a Craigslist ad, as well as searching through friends and relatives to talk with as many people as I can. Interview them... Hang out with them once or twice.. He'll it's almost just like dating for fucks sake!
