Hey guys, I'm traveling to San Francisco the last week of the month. I'll be staying with some good friends- a straight couple, but want to head out on my own a couple of nights.

I've been to the city a few times before, but haven't experienced any of the gay scene. Where should I go? I am more of a bar guy and am chatty when I know people, but can be shy with strangers. What is friendly? Any suggestions would be helpful! If someone wants to meet up, too, that would be fun. icon_smile.gif

    hey,
arent you the guy that helped me with my thailand trip thread?
    here you go:
friday evenings at black bird (market @ church) around happy hour is popular with the professional crowd- though it can be really busy by 7. i dont know whats good friday night, im usually too tired by 10, but you can walk around the bars in the castro- there are about 10 within a few blocks.18th and castro is your ground zero, about 1 block south of the castro street muni station (castro @ market)

saturday nights at rebel (market @ octavia) after 11 ish is popular. shirtless go go boys etc. this is a little ways from the castro, so you cant shuffle back and forth. a cab would be about 5$, the walk is about 10-15 mins.

if you want to go out before that on sat night, head to the castro around 9:30-10 after dinner.
in the castro, i like moby dick- no dancing, but pool table and good place to chat as the music isnt too loud.
badlands and cafe have a dancefloor, i rarley go there but you may like it. they get real crowded- lots of 21 yr olds, chubby girls from the burbs.
i think sunday evenings "jock" at the look out (market @ 16th) is popular for happy hour.

check out this magazine, most places in the castro will have these and you can pick one up.

i'd have been happy to meet, but im going to be up in crater lake from thurs to sunday last weekend of the month.

    hope that helps icon_biggrin.gif
