Instead of only male or female, "indeterminate" is now an option.

Sounds great but also offensive. I'm sure people who are intersexual have already determined exactly why. Why didn't they just put an "in between" category.

its not offensive, that is what they are and theres absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. The only ones who make it sound offensive are those who use it with the intent to discriminate.

    I kinda wondered that myself.

indeterminate: not exactly known, established, or defined

But these bureaucratic forms seek short replies. What other words would there be? Unknown? Not sure? In-between? None of the above? Both of the above? I decline to answer?

A good first step, but perhaps the form should have had more than 3 choices. Or review how many of these forms really need you to declare your gender at all? If gender is becoming largely irrelevant to one's status? Except perhaps that international passports universally require gender for conformity, nothing Australia can do about it for the time being.

Seriously... They gave the terminally indecisive an option and now your whineing that it sounds to harsh and they should have a diatribe about gender stereotypes printed on their passport because obviously a single word is insufficient to describe their traumatic struggle with gender identity.

They're is such a thing as Political correctness overkill
