This just dumbfounds me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of guys that grunt on EVERY rep, but the 'Lunk Alarm' is absolutely priceless!

I like purple, but that much would make me want to punch someone in the face. Beware any gym that doesn't allow deadlifting.

Here's what happens when you ask someone to be more quiet at a PF:

A real gym's response to the PF commercial:

I was kicked out a Planet Fitness once for squatting... for squatting 315. It was a #%@#$@ warmup.

Now Ironsport is an AWESOME gym. I trained there a few times when I was in Philly for work and their planet fitness response video is awesome.

"This isn't going well." hahahahaha... that guy is just like that in person. Very funny and outgoing.

I thought this segment was exaggerating until I asked my trainer about it... he told me it's all true!

If grunting bothers you, just wear headphones.

    That segment was fucking hilarious.

I went to a pf once to try it out. They wanted to charge me for a one day trial. So I was like give me a tour first.

Rows and rows of cardiovascular machines and weight machines.

Their free weights only go up to 50lbs. I use 70-80 on chest presses and barbel rows... I mean Cmon I'm not even that strong or big yet.

    No squat racks

1 small cable station, so no cable crosses or anything like that.

And a big sign that says no grunting.

Well I told them this place isn't for me.

The next day I found my current gym, which is a no nonsense lifting gym, with tons of free weights, going up to 100+. And 3 squat racks. And 4 cable cross areas. Yet only 3-4 treadmill, bikes and ellipticals. Much better : )

    • On our once-a-month Pizza Night, we give away 400,000 slices. That's more than 4 million slices of pizza a year.

    • We hand out more than a million Tootsie Rolls every month.

I'm surprised you people didn't know about these kind of shenanigans. Hilarious! It's a gym for non-gym goers!

The other day I was at an Airforce base gym and as I walk in all I hear is HEAVY and EXTREMELY LOUD grunting. I was thinking damn someone must be pushing up some serious weight, the guy was curling 30 lbs on each side. He did this throughout his whole routine. He even did it during regular SIT UPS!!! I found It to be entertaining and I thought that if he was my workout partner it sure would be easy to find him if I didn't know where he had gone.

It's a place for fatties and insecure women to rationalize eating shit and tell themselves their exercising...

It's the same demographic you see in a fast food place ordering three hamburgers... a large fries, a bowl of Ranch OH and a DIET coke.

    Pure and simply

They are serious about the grunting and stuff, but from the testimonials, it's not a gym, it's like a rehabilitation center. I wonder if they accept all forms of insurance.
I wouldn't give it another thought. It's their business model. And when we are all in the gym sweating it out on 3rd of October, think of them wasting all their gym time with FREE PIZZA. Yay! Karma!

Hahahaha. I'm a member of this gym. The alarm is real (but never heard it go off).

I'm actually going there today to cancel my membership (I can't afford $10/month and NO grunting) ............

They aren't all equipped the same. I've been a member for a few years now and I think I've only heard the alarm go off once when someone dropped a lot of weight right in front of it. If it's not someplace you want to workout, then don't go there. But I see everyone wipe down their equipment and put away their weights at mine, something I've never seen anywhere else.

How exactly does this alarm work anyway?

Does someone who works there push a button? Do people go complain when they see someone grunting? Does it have some fancy grunt-detecting technology?

I see plenty of guys at the PF I go to that would give any MOTD here a run for their money in the body department, and they are usually the ones I see grabbing a slice once a month on the way out the door. Most of the fat people like me seem to skip it.
