hey guys! so I have to go shopping this weekend for fall clothes and I'm trying to get away from polos at work. I'd love to get some clothing options (or maybe brands) that would look great...but still keeping in mind that I typically shop at Kohl's. Help!

Different styles of sweaters make a handsome guy look even more handsome. Cardigans especially have been increasing in popularity recently.
    Shawl neck: Kohl's | Kohl's | Banana Republic
    Cardigan: Gap | Target | Forever 21
    Zip-up cardigan: Kohl's
Avoid cheap looking fabrics and look for high quality cottons and wools (merino and/or cashmere are especially fine and dressier for work if you can afford it).

Instead of polos, I would suggest dressy button-up shirts, assuming your job has an office-style dress code.
Shirts with an oxford weave (BR - zoom for detail) or texture (BR - zoom for detail) can add a bit of interest to an otherwise plain-looking shirt.
Two nice work-appropriate patterns are fine stripes (BR) and gingham (BR).

For pants, stick with slim fit because "relaxed"/"classic" fits are outdated. Pleats are in for this season, but overall have become outdated and non-pleated pants give you a more modern look.
Chinos (Kohl's) are also nice if you're looking for something more casual than dress pants but dressier than jeans.

Finally, shoes. Do not wear square toe. Ever. You probably also want to avoid pointed toe.
Stick with a round toe and find something simple, without any unnecessary (and sometimes ugly) detailing.

Kohl's is the bomb. Cheap, looks good, the fit me right for some reason.

Oh, that and the one-two punch of TJ Maxx and Steinmart.

I have to disagree about Kohl's. I went into one of those stores a few years ago and was pretty disgusted. I saw a long line of people waiting like cattle to pay for their purchases. Then I saw some cheap shirts and ties - really awful looking - together in plastic packages. I had never seen a store pair up cheap items for the customer - as though he can't put shirts and ties together. Kohl's wants to help the poor customer out, I guess. God, they had some strange clothing. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

My advice is to go to a good store, choose good quality items that work for you and then wear them for a long time - classics. If you buy cheap things, they look badly on you and they don't last long. In the long run - classics will see you through many years and you'll always look good wherever you go.
