I believe there are already a few of those buried in the depths of the forum. Well, I know for sure there's one about Latin music, another just in Spanish, and another about Hispanic guys.

But hey, feel free to do what you want with this thread. No complaints here!

Cinco de Mayo isn't another Independence Day. A battle took place in the city (back then a small town) of Puebla between the French and the Mexicans, and the Mexicans won. I believe only Puebla celebrates this day. Otherwise it's just another party day for Americans. It gets a lot more attention here than there.

Like I said....Mexican History. I didnt really care.

On Cinco de Mayo I drink Irish Car Bombs. On St Patrick's day I drink Coronas.

Mexico was already independent when the Battle of Puebla took place. Those pesky French dared to invade!

Yah I am surprised the French did anything of the sort.

5 de Mayo is indeed a national holiday in Mexico, though. No work or school.

Really? icon_eek.gif Hm, I didn't know this! I went to Querétaro when I was 10 during the week of 5 de Mayo, and nothing special happened. Of course, I could've been completely oblivious as I often was at that age. Damn, I need to dig up pics of that trip to jar my memory.
