Got their wisdom teeth removed? Seriously, I've been living off Activia yogurt drinks and tomato soup for 3 days now. I'm starving to death & I look like a fuckin chipmunk. When does it get better? I'm more swollen today than ever.

Sorry to hear I had only 2 removed and luckily I didn't swell. If you are in pain call your Dr. It can be a sign of infection/ dry socketsicon_idea.gif

    feel better

I had a pre-emptive removal before I got my braces. A mini hammer and chisel were involved. Local anesthetic. icon_confused.gif

yourname2000 saidYup, what mike said. My understanding is the bottoms ones are more susceptible to infection over the upper ones, because of how easy food can collect there.

I've had 3 removed. It should be getting better, not worse. There can be serious issues of bacteria getting into your bloodstream here. Please contact your dentist and see if he can see you, even for 5 minutes tomorrow, to either reassure you or get you fixed up quick.

Don't mess with this one.You don't want an infection to get into your jaw bone.

Well I have to wait until Monday, because I got them taken out at a specialists office and they aren't open on weekends. I don't think it's infected because I've never missed a dose of penicillin, and I've done the salt rinses after every bowl of soup....

I only got them taken out on Wednesday morning. I think it's swollen because I sneezed last night and kinda ripped my left bottom stitch a bit, and that's the side that's really swollen. I'll still go on Monday though.

Make some meatloaf and squish it up with a fork so it's easier to eat.

    ^^^ this

I had four taken out at once and all four of them got "dry socket" and were very painful.

You will get through it. Just be patient. I am so sorry, tho. I know you pain. Do the best you can to eat as much healthy food as you can tolerate. Your body needs the food.

I had 4 of them removed, but 2 at a time.

Hope the painkillers are helping icon_smile.gif My cheek was swollen for 2 - 3 days, but the crater (what used to be the wisdom tooth) took a few months to close. I could actually eat ramen noodles on the second day by just chewing really slow. Sometimes food would get stuck inside and it'd be quite annoying to try to remove it.

I think u should be fine as long as the bleeding stopped and u make an effort to remove the gunk from the hole. But of course its better to contact your dentist just to be safe.

Cheer up, it'd be over soon icon_smile.gif

I had all four removed. The majority of the pain was gone within a week. My bottom teeth had extremely long roots, so my lower jaw had a dull ache for 2 weeks longer. I just took ibuprofen and was ok thereafter.

Don't worry about the dry socket unless you are having sudden, very serious pain in one area.... its unlikely that you'd get more than one dry socket.....

I'm sorry icon_sad.gif Just take your meds....

I guess I was lucky because it was about 3 days and it wasnt so bad.

My dentist told me if had any trouble I could call him at home. He was gay and really hot, so I called him and I said ( my mouth was still swollen) " De teef r otay but I was dust wondawing if you would wike to have dinna wif me?" I had to try asking a couple of times before he understood what I was saying but he said yes and we dated for while. He was really good at using his hands.

Sorry to hear about your problems!
I had one removed years ago.It was quite a performance due to infection(I was on antibiotics for a week before the dentist would even look at me!),then he had a struggle due to the tooth being only just above the gum line, and when it did come out it fractured and he had to dig the deep roots out individually!
The immediate pain faded in a few days to a dull ache. After that it was the occasional paracetemol for a week or two until it finally went completely.
I would advise you to contact your dentist if the pain isn`t fading after three days.
    Best wishes!

Different people react and heal at different rates. It took my brother about 2 weeks to go back to normal eating, while I was alright after 1 week (all 4 taken out at once!)

After the 3rd day, the swelling should go down. If there's excess bleeding, you can put tea bags in the bag of your mouth to soak up the blood.

Just use this as a good reason to rent movie/video games and relax.

I got all four removed at once but luckily for me they had already grown out (got them removed due to infections). I had no pain and no swelling. Basically, once my mouth unfroze i was fine.

Had mine out. No big deal.

DON'T do the tea bag thing though. I tried it and the tea bag busted open.

Suffice it to say, yuck and OW!

It takes about a week for all of the swelling to go away. I think, if I remember correctly, day 3 was the worst of it.

I had all 4 removed in one go... I looked like i was stuffing marshmallows in my mouth. I was so swollen. It sucked, however only the first night was really bad, pain wise.

I lived off of pasta, apple sauce, and yogurt for i don't know how long.
