    "Yes, it's about equality,
but it's also about something else: commitment.

Conservatives believe in the ties that bind us; that society is stronger when we make vows to each other and support each other.

So I don't support gay marriage despite being a Conservative. I support gay marriage because I'm a Conservative,"

-- - David Cameron in a speech to the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester.

WE NEED AN AMERICAN PARTY of CONSERVATIVES who can embrace sanity and science as Britain's Conservatives do.

I think that the Republicans have so thoroughly embraced the rousing insanity of the Perpetually Angry and Bigoted, that the Party needs to be scrapped.

Americans deserve Conservatives voices---like David Cameron in Britain.

well, maybe when the brits do it and the world doesn't turn upside down and start rumbling like it's about to explode, people will start to calm down.

Agreed. but I have to wonder how many examples it will take before the American conservatives no longer see equality as some terrible threat.

We lifted the ban on gay men serving in the military in 2000 and they didn`t collapse....

The British Conservatives had a lean time after the 1997 General Election defeat when they went all 'ideological'.David Cameron struggled for a while to bring them back to the centre ground. One of the first signs of his attempt was when he wholeheartedly backed the introduction of civil partnerships in 2005.
You may have our conservatives....just as long as we don`t have to have your Republicans!

In stead, we have a "conservative" faction who embrace reactive religiosity. Perhaps the GOP needs to self-destruct so that conservatives can take it back from fear-filled christianists and the plutocracy.

The country would greatly benefit from an intelligent, reasoned conservative party.
