31 too old to get piercings?

    Hi,

I am thinking about getting my nipples pierced (and my ears probably...). I am 30 turning 31 next month. Would it me ridiculous to get piercings at my age? I know I am exaggerating. But I never had piercings or tattoos before. I always sported the nice guy next door look (besides the shaved or buzzed head and the beard). So what I am thinking about are my nipples and probably tunnels in my ear lobes. Is the latter to extreme?icon_question.gif

    Thanks

I've heard that nipples hurt a LOT and don't stop hurting for a while, so I would ask people about them and be sure you want them before you get them.

If you do spacers (tunnels) get a regular piercing and stretch it out, do not get it pierced at the gauge you want it because that will basically take a chunk of skin out of your ear that you can never grow back.

I don't want something irreversible. So now flesh cut out or so. I think I might start with the nipples as they are invisible to others besides my bf. When I first tasted blood I might get some more piercings.

If you want it, get it.

    If you don't, don't.

Yeah do what you want! F*ck age! What does that have to do with anything. As long as it doesn't affect your job/livelihood I wouldn't sweat it.

Remember, we don't have forever to do everything we want to do!

    Have fun!

For nipples and ears, I'd say no you aren't too old.

I used to have a variety in my younger years. All that's left now are my 0 gauge tunnels. 0 gauge is supposedly the "point of no return". If I take them out for >12 hours, they close back down to a reasonable size. I leave them out in the hospital after taking them out the prior afternoon and no one has made a comment or asked a question yet. Nipple rings are like your secret treasure; I'd say they are a no brainer if you want them.

Also, do what the prior posted recommended. Start with a normal sized piercing (somewhere between an 18 and a 14 gauge) and slowly stretch up. Expect minimum gaps of a month before attempting to stretch to the next size. Moving too fast can cause blowouts which are permanently disfiguring.

The only thing you are ever really too old to do is question doing the things you really want to do.

    Go for it.

The nipples are EXTREMELY sensitive. Every dude I know that did it said the same thing. Including a 220 poundhard-core biker buddy of mine many years ago who passed out on the spot.

    Be warned!!!

Why are you concerned about getting them at your present age, since if you do, you'll still have them for the rest of your life?

Nipple hurts like hell :E when I did it, it was the end of the guy's shift so he got sloppy, dropped the piece on the floor while still piercing... then he "lost" the piece half-way through the flesh and started trying to dig out to the exit... I lost consciousness icon_biggrin.gif it was pretty embarassing, but then again I've always been sensitive to needles...

Ironically, it got infected after like 3 weeks so I had to take it out anyway. Even if he hadn't screwed up it would've hurt like hell. Ears are the least painful, eyebrow wasn't that bad either.

When it comes to age: screw it. I hate when people tell me I'm too old for something, like playing games or anything like that. Do whatever you want and let people QQ all they want.

Oh please, nipple piercings are not that bad at all. There is a sharp pain for a second at most as the needle goes through. Then that's it. The pain really is not all that bad. I'm 53. I have piercings. I have tattoos. I plan to get more, I don't care what other people think. That's one of the perks of being an adult.

Personally I don't like piercings or tattoos on the male body. I would never date someone whom has either. But that's just my hang-up. The male body, (well, the in-shape male body anyway), is beautiful on it's own. Why defile it?

But your age question? Shouldn't matter. As you get older...into your 50's 60's, the holes will heal/close if you remove them so you won't look ridiculous then. Go for it if you want to. icon_wink.gif

    Good luck!

Yeah go for the nipples. I had mine done when I was younger and really liked em. They didn't that much at all, but my nipples aren't very sensitive.

The nipples hurt. A lot. The chick who did it actually had her daughter come in to hold my hand after i got the first one done lol. Then theres the fact that you wanna be extremely careful with them after they are done. I have a friend who had his ripped out by a seat belt, now he's got a double nipple. Blech. They are hot though, and if you want one, dont let anyone tell you that you are too old for one. Its your body.

The only people that would say you are too old to do anything are those that stopped living.

I had one ear pierced at age 30. I've always wanted my nipples pierced. I turned 50 in April and decided there was no use waiting any longer.

I asked several people with piercings for referrals. I went to the number one place. They were great... very professional. It hurt for only a brief second as the needle went through. Afterwards they were "tender" but never hurt.

The key with nipples is that they will take 3 to 4 months or more to heal. Keep them cleaned at least a couple times daily with a mild soap. At night, wear a very tight t-shirt to bed to keep the rings or bars stationary so you don't pull, hit, or bump the roughly in your sleep.

The only thing I would do differently is that I would have the bars placed in the nipples at the time of the piercing rather than the rings. The bars won't catch on things as easily which happens when you work with livestock or farming chores.

    Good luck. Go for it!
