I used to used the ones that came with my iPod, but they broke and I never liked em much on the treadmill and such. Always got in the way.

I also with there was a strap to hold the iPod that didn't go around my arms. When I'm lifting I don't know how I'd feel about it.

Also, I heard there was mp3s that led you through workouts like what a personal trainer would do. Sounds interesting. Anyone know anything about it.

As you can you can tell I'm one of those people that REALLY cannot go to the gym without there headphones. icon_smile.gif

I don't know about the personal trainer MP3 player, but I use some Nokia Bluetooth headphones - they're wireless, sound great, comfy enough for a couple of hours at the gym - but not much more, and no cords. I love them!

One warning though, over summer my first pair stopped working, and while I'm not sure why, I think it might have been because of the sweat. icon_sad.gif

Get them from eBay though, they're 1/5 of the price.

I got a cheap pair of behind the head connected earbud type things... like 6 bucks.. works great for running.. never falls off like those silly ipod earbuds. lifting tho i just tuck the nano into my waistband or pocket because putting it on my arm when i lift just doesnt work.

on another note, if some guy has head phones on, it definitely means "dont talk to me" right?

I actually like the iPod earphones, not necessarily for their audio quality, but because they fit in my ears and don't fall out. They don't last very long, sure, but from all the sweat I get into them while running and lifting, they certainly take some damage . .

I've gotten used to using the bicep strap while running and then putting my iPod in my pocket while I lift weights. I don't like it restricting my movement . . I just attach the velcro part inside my gym shorts so my iPod doesn't fall out for some reason.

You might be talking about the Nike+ system that you can use with your iPod. It tracks your runs and can offer "assistance" while you're running. The rumor is Nike is working on one for workouts too for use with the iPhone, but that's just a rumor right now I think.

    Here's a link...http://nikeplus.nike.com/nikeplus/

I use the Sony Fontopia headphones. They look like the standard iPod headphones, but they have a rubber "noise canceling" end on them. This is soft in your ear, unlike the rock hard iPod ones that irritate my ears. They have amazing bass for $20 earphones and really do a good job of canceling out noise. I use them on the plane all the time and I can never hear the people next to me. They're awesome for $20.

Oh yeah, the Fontopia headphones come with a short cord that's the perfect length if you have your iPod on your arm. They then come with an "extension cord" for use if the iPod is on your belt or in your hand. The "arm cord" is awesome because the cord never gets in your way while running or lifting - it's the perfect length. I love it!

    Here's a link for them on Amazon...http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-EX71SL-Fontopia-Headphones-Black/dp/B000092YQW

I use a set of Logitech "FreePulse" Bluetooth wireless MP3 player headphones and I love them. They are about $80 a pair.

I used to use Bose "Quietcomfort" headphones, which are incredible; but they also cost about $450 a set, and I kept losing them.

Iain has a pair of Sony MDR-AS50G that he swears are the most comfortable and secure fitting set he has ever worn to the gym. About $50 a pair.

Yeah, that's why I like headphones and it usually helps me tune out everyone else.

Hmm, I may have to look for these bluetooth headphones... I use my MP3 player a lot when I'm practicing my fire spinning, and I'm always having the cord get in the way. It's damned annoying when my staff or Poi catch the cord and rip the headphones out of my ears. It's even worse when I'm practicing blindfolded, because it takes forever to get everything situated again...
