I remember when my hometown got a Best Buy in 1996. It was all the rage and my parents went nuts since they're both techies. It's hard to believe what was available back then and how much they were. Impressive how many electronics have lowered in price over the years.

Man, I got my current laptop for a little under $500 and a 3-in-1 printer for $65. Meanwhile, $130 for 16MB of memory! Shit, you can get like 3GB for $20-$30 now!

Check out the HUGE 32" TV, pagers, answering machines, and big-ass Motorola cell phones!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer on VHS for $5.99. I totally got Buffy on DVD in the $5 bin at Walmart several years ago.

The price point on appliances such as washers/dryers, vacuum cleaners and BBQ grills hasn't changed much in the past 15 years.

I'm ashamed to admit that I had a pager in 1996! Ugh. Yes, I thought pagers were cool!

Fortunately that feeling only lasted a week. I got so annoyed with the beeping that I removed the batteries and chucked it in a drawer to be forgotten.

Someone left me a voice mail at work 2 weeks ago, and said the best way to reach her was on her pager. I thought it was the Twilight Zone.

My first computer in high school was a Packard Bell x486 running a whopping 75Mhz. This was around 1995/1996. My parents bought it for me right before the first Intel Pentium processor came out. I think they payed around $1600 for it. I remember saving up some cash so I can upgrade the RAM from 4MB to 8MB, and damn that made it a blazing fast (at the time). The internet just started to become mainstream as AOL had a new pricing plan charging $19.99 a month. I upgraded the modem from 14.4 to 33.6 kbit/s. Duke Nukem 3D anyone??
