What in the fuck is wrong with people!? I am selling a external 160gb hdd, asking 40$. I get some tool calling me and says how much i say 40$, he says " oh you can buy 500gb at the store for $40" Im like " ok, go buy it at the store then" CLICK.

And btw, you CANNOT get 500gb at a store for 40$, even refurbed at a shitty computer outlet. Keep smokin the crack.

Anyone get these toolbags responding to ads?

I think ridiculous hagglers that waste their own time and yours have always existed, but Craigslist gives us a new way to run into them. I remember one friend telling me her dad would go into department stores, hunt for minute defects and then try to offer different prices for the goods. In certain cases there's room for this, but she said it would get embarrassing when he'd try to get tube socks for a buck. It's weird when people don't get how little authority most clerks have to make any unique decisions and how little they're paid to care.

It's the same cluelessness that makes its way to your CL listing.

HaightLifting said..... It's weird when people don't get how little authority most clerks have to make any unique decisions and how little they're paid to care.

....and even when clerks are authorized to negotiate.
When I was in school I worked a front desk at a hotel part time.
We were fully authorized to bargain, but were given zero incentive to do so.

Walk in: How much for a double?
    Clerk: $65/night
Walk in: [faking shock] $65!? I can stay across the street at [insert any roach motel name here] for $45!
Clerk: I totally understand. Have a nice night, sir.

You're operating in the internet version of a garage sale. One writer confessed that she bargained an item at a garage sale down from 15 cents, to a dime. Then she knew she had a problem. The same whackos are online after they get home from the garage sales. I have bought some sweet items off of EBay though.
