    OH JOY.

    evil-facebook1.jpg

All of your old Facebook stuff is getting spectacular new life. Facebook just announced a massive profile overhaul that dredges up your past status updates, wall posts and photos to create a massive "Timeline" of things you never wanted to remember in the first place.

    Thoughts?

What do you mean? it will show deleted photos? I thought anyone can already look through all your past status updates and stuff. and to look at all your photos they just have to look at your album.

I'm completely vain, so I actually like the idea of browsing my old status updates. They've been doing a "This day in 2010" thing in my right column, and it's reminded me of good times like my Spain vacation last summer.

Everyone's first reaction to change is to hate it. And honestly some of those new apps they demo'ed seem ridiculous... I really don't need to know that you're watching Glee right now. But I like the new layout and especially that big giant honking picture you get to choose at the top of your profile page. I upload a lot of photos so that'll be fun.

I'm looking forward to the new page. And at least they gave us a heads up this time.

This confuses me. Why wouldn't you want to remember things? Does your life suck or something?

It's just another excuse to reset your privacy settings to "public" and opt-out settings to opt-in so they can use your pics in their advertisements and broadcast all your once-private conversations to the public...ya know...the shit that FB has been doing since day one, and the ONLY reason I will NEVER have a FB profile.

But don't worry. Once you finally figure out that they've opened up your privacy and opt-in settings, you can always reset them and opt back out...AFTER they've already used your stuff.

New social sites always pop up, because people want to get away from their contacts on the old social sites.

Isn't it just AOL all over again at this point. Stopped being real fun when high school teachers started adding me. Now it's just cute fun for staying in touch with family. I pretend everything I publish is going straight to the top of a google search result.

I have the new Facebook Timeline, and it is teh awesome! (Damn the haters!)

It really is like a digital scrapbook of your life. You can scroll thru your timeline and add milestones from your life like graduation, new jobs, moving, etc. There are some things I don't like... the picture formatting is clumsy. But overall, it's really fun and addictive.

lol brilliant! I like the "on this day" status, but the latest updates seems pointless. Splitting up the newsfeed and the newsfeed-in-a-newsfeed serve no real purpose that I can see.

Yeh, I hate that ticker thing. It's like you have 2 facebook feeds on the same page. Makes no sense.
