SO today i was talking to my friend and he said that he believes that there is no certain sexual orientation that a person has, I agreed with him somewhat due to the fact that I do know a lot of "straight' men that I know would be with a guy if they had the chance. Also I can count on my finger the number of girls I know that would not hook up with another girl. THAT'S A LOT OF BISEXUALS AND LESBIANS LOL

What do you guys think, Is there just tooooo many closet-cases out there, or do you believe that human sexuality is fluent, meaning a person can become aroused by any gender?

I believe human sexuality is fluent in many languages.

Um, no. Just because sexuality is a spectrum and some people are bisexual in varying degrees doesn't mean that everyone has the same orientation (or lack thereof).

I believe one's sexuality is a constant work in progress that is influenced by many factors that start at a very young age.

Yes. Sexual orientation is probably a biological function to cause attraction for mating. That doesn't mean that it always works in a way that results in procreation. Brain development is an extremely complicated process, and any little change in the process could result in a different orientation other than 100% heterosexual.

There's a nerdy answer for you.

No, I believe that there are some exclusively gay guys like myself and I also believe that there are some exclusively straight guys as well. I do think there are a lot of bi men who repress their sexual feelings towards other men though. Bi girls are often more willing to act on their sexual feelings because it's more accepted by society. I'll give you an example using Jersey Shore cast members since I know you watch that show. I believe that Deena and Situation are both bi, but Deena is willing to act on her attraction to girls because she knows that she'll be accepted by her fans and the cast members. Imagine the reactions that people would have if Situation started making out with guys on the show.

ok, I'll be politically incorrect on multiple levels with this -

    an Kamikaze Hero.

    Kamikaze_Hero_by_rabidcyrus.jpg

Now offending the kami of deceased Japanese Tokkotai pilots enshrined at the Yasukuni Shrine, and the spirits of ANZUS and other Allied WW2 vets, and various other people totally unconnected to this who may be considering becoming an hero, all because of an grammar error.

    You're welcome.

The age of the average RJ member leaves me unsurprised.

    More on topic-ish:

Being that we are very closely related to the Bonobo, a very highly bisexual critter... I'd not be surprised at all if the majority of humans were in fact bisexual "out of the box".

The difference between us and the other primates being that over the past 10,000 years of developing culture and religion (particularly the Abrahamic faiths) that re-inforces heterosexual *behaviours* for the sake of a (supposed) reproductive advantage.

Particular in an era where people seldom lived past 40, and women had to whelp out as many kids as their uterus could handle, since so many kids never made it to their 5th birthdays.

With modern medicine and a general liberalization trend toward these old cultural traditions, more and more folks are free to explore and develop their true sexuality.

If I had to make a wild guess, without any cultural or religious inputs,I'd venture to say that 3-5% of humanity is exclusively heterosexual, and 1-3% are exclusively homosexual, with everyone else being variously fluid shades of bisexual.

Apparently I don't participate enough in forums to understand the "hero" joke and what it has to do with grammar. If someone would care to explain, I'd appreciate it. icon_question.gif

"An Hero" is an (ugly) internet meme about a kid who killed himself some number of years ago.

This kid had a few friends, and one of them took it upon herself to post to his MySpace page repeatedly referring to him as "an hero" (correct grammar in US English would have been "a hero").

Certain less noble-minded persons (read: internet trolls) then took advantage of this slip of grammar to harrass the kid's family and friends by poking fun of the"an hero" verbiage.

    More details about it here.
