I didn't see the debates tonight, but I woke up and saw this posted:
    http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-gay-soldier-boos-20110922,0,975031.story

What's even funnier is Santorum's response of:
"But we would move forward in conformity with what was happening in the past, which is, that sex is not an issue," he said. "Leave it alone, keep it to yourself, whether you are a heterosexual or a homosexual."

    One of the replies:
"Please! The Republican and Tea Party have pandered to anti-Gay right wing religious extremists for years. There was no misrepresenting. I saw the debate. I heard the crowd boo and hiss after the soldier spoke. Santorum should have told the audience to shut up. He did not. Not candidate came to the defense of the soldier and condemned those in the audience who booed! They won't, they need the racists, the religious extremists, the intolerant and the haters to vote for them. That is their Achillies heel. When you pander to the scum, you become scum."

    Telling is it not?

This is truely a scary bunch of voters who would actually applaude such bigoted talk, add this to a couple weeks back with a similar T Baggin Republican Audience applauded "let him die", which even is said to have shocked the Christian Talaban representative, Perry.

These attitudes the audiences are displaying should worry everyone, not just gays and those supporting Social Security, Fanaticism is taking over the greater percentage of these Repub. Candidates. Don't these people think that their words are promoting such audience reactions ?

What is happening to our country ? Bad times turn some people to god and church, but you'd think that it wouldn't drive them to fanaticism that brings them around to tromping on others rights and programs that will help even themselves, and at the expense of those who can least afford it, all the while trying to save all the loopholes and etc. so the rich pay little and some none at all.

    What stupid voters !!.

It's easier to focus on scapegoats than try and determine what exactly caused the economic downturn

By focusing on a common enemy, you can unite factions of people that would normally not be allies beforehand (although why the Democrats don't do this, I don't know).

The GOP seems to specialize on feeding on and encouraging fear of everything from terrorists to vaccines to homosexuals to illegal immigrants when in actuality - the reality is far scarier.
