Obviously I know smoking is bad for your health! But does it actually hinder workout results, weightloss, definition etc?

yes, as it restricts oxygen which makes your body not metabolize fat as well.

that is at least one physiological reason, plus I'd guess you wouldn't be able to push yourself as hard thus your workouts would be less effective.

Most of the hardcore muscle guys I know smoke herb though, since they have to eat so much it makes them hungary.

nicotine constricts your blood vessels so I've heard it hinders getting blood to muscles, how much depends on when/how much you smoke I guess

i didn't have a problem with smoking or drinking heavily and working out when i used to a few years ago, but i think because i had a strict routine that it helped "negate" the effects of both and i was incredibly lean (though i have a fast metabolism) but i never really gained bulk/muscle (besides my six pack), my muscle i had just got a lot more defined. but maybe because i didn't change my workout routines that often is a major factor reason for lack of muscle growth.

ROFL. LMAO. Golly, smoking keeps you from getting oxygen and poisons you with a long list of stuff, like cyanide, and carbon monoxide. Don't you think that anything effecting your ability to breathe / get oxygen, and that puts cyanide in your system would effect any body process including exercise performance?

Here's a sure fire thing it does. Used long enough it will kill you. Used regular it will make you sick twice as often as a regular person. Suffocation is horrible way to die.

Clearly, if you smoke, you've lost part of your ability to think rationally. If you smoke, you need to stop, for a long list of reasons.

ex-smoker here. i've quit for 2 years now! icon_smile.gif it definitely kept me from achieving my goals. QUIT NOW!!! you'll thank yourself later. a couple of fore-warnings: 1. you might gain weight. nicotine is a appetite suppresant, and the cravings might make you even hungrier. 2. dont take chantix to help. i work in a psych ward and seen a few chantix-induced psychotic breaks 3. dont beat yourself up if you have a slip. everyday is a new chance to quit...

Yes. Like Fox News anything on the Onion is only accidentally true. Unlike Fox News, the Onion is intentionally comical.

Ok ok, smoking while working out is not good, but people who smoke then go workout, there is no facts or proven theory that states that,..........obviously i dont smoke, but i know people that smoke and are still healthy and have defined bodies.....So do as you please, just dont do it right before you workout.... Smoking in general is still bad for your health....lol there you have it icon_biggrin.gif

LOL...are you serious? Smoking totally keeps you from getting your maximum results, not to mention the adverse reactions it has to your health, SKIN, and overall energy level.

Yes it does! Nasty habit. It's either living it up the healthy way, or bringing down your body's potential because of that nasty nicotine fix.
