    I was reading this article:

    http://bangordailynews.com/2011/09/27/living/joan-jett-gnr-heart-the-cure-nominated-for-rock-hall/

If Joan Jett and Heart are going to be in it why not Pat?? She's right up there with these ladies in pioneering rock for women. How the hell is Madonna in the RRHOF before Pat?? Any thoughts?

It would be nice to see The Cure chosen. Definitely an underrepresented genre in the Hall of Fame.

Madonna is pop not rock lol. But then again there are people in the hall of fame who wouldn't be considered "rock" and just their for their image in pop culture or something like that icon_razz.gif

We want Pat! I should make tshirts ha,

And the Cure would be good as well.

I'm all for Pat getting in, but Joan Jett definitely deserves to go in first.

These people have just been nominated, it doesn't mean they're getting in. Heart, for example, should have been in a decade or more ago; I'm sure they've been nominated before.

The process shouldn't be taken too seriously as the whole thing is controlled by a secretive, insular handful of people and the inductees skew towards their own personal tastes/likes dislikes -- not to any objective standard.

As for Madonna being in, think Hall of Fame thinks of 'rock and roll' the way 'rock and roll' was thought of in the 50s when the term referred not to a specific genre but was used to describe any music on popular music charts outside of classical, country, and jazz. The Hall is therefore for anyone who has had significant impact on popular music forms -- including but not limited to rock music -- and Madonna certainly fits the bill.
