"Dear President [Jeffrey M.] Lacker," wrote state Delegate Bob Marshall, "Flying the homosexual flag just under the American flag outside Richmond'sFederalReserveBank building is a serious deficiency of judgment by your organization."

Marshall said the Federal Reserve policies are supposed to "contribute to the strength and vitality of the U.S. economy," but "a flagpole in front of a federal building is not a commercial or political message board."

    From the letter:

The Fed's policies are supposed to "contribute to the strength and vitality of the U.S. economy.

Yes Bob Dumbass Marshall that's why he's hanging a homosexual flag. They have more expendable income. With the exception of AIDS, anything gay males touch makes life better for everyone else.

Let me get this straight: a state delegate from the Commonwealth of Virginia sent a letter to a Federal Reserve Bank building official in Richmond, VA, requesting they take down the rainbow flag. Excuse me, but didn't this country have a Civil War over the role of the federal vs. state's rights? What if a federal official requested a state official to take down the Confederate's Stars and Bars flag?

Is it me or does anyone else see the sheer irony here?

    Some mixed signals here.

    1. The Federal Reserve Bank is not part of the federal government, butnis actually a hybrid public and private corporation that functions largely outside of the control of the federal government.

    2. Nothing prevents a state legislator from requesting that the Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond take down a particular flag. It is neither unlawful nor inappropriate, though certainly unusual.

    3. Nothing prevents the Federal Reserve Bank at Richmond from either complying with, or denying this request.

    4. Basically it is a non-issue that some jerkwad legislator is using to score political points for himself with.

Republican Govenor Bob McDonnell of Virginia also removed "sexual orientation" from the state discrimination policy, and then the Attorney General tried to enforce this same policy on public colleges.

So the reaction to the flag is not really much of a surprise.

I just learned a great new word, thanks!
(I'm trying not to use the word "asshole" in a derogatory sense anymore.)

It's a wonderful organ which gives great pleasures, for examples:
1- makes me feel great after my morning (and other) 'dumps'
2- gives great pleasure to the guy I'm fucking
3- rimming- makes the guy squirm with pleasure

Why use that term for a jerkwad?
Hey, it's a great thing, it shouldn't be so dissed!

"I think it is ridiculous that gays want to further marginalize themselves* & remain a somewhat 'separate' group from society as a whole by having their own flag..."

First of all welcome back southbeach150!

Ya, gays having their own flags are so ridiculous and out of the mainstream. Just like every nation, US state and Canadian province having their own flags as well as cities, counties, banks, grocery stores, automobile manufacturers, the Rotary, Lions, Elks, churches, airplane companies, travel agencies, etc. etc.

You seem to find the 'beat of a different drummer' - repeat after me: It's all in my head, it's all in my head - taking the opposite side in almost every point raised on RJ. Just who is marginalizing who?...

Again, welcome back to the forums, guy.
