Im starting to lose weight again, but this time im far more interested in creating a roundish muscle bod rather than being a twig, any general rules to follow that can help me achieve this?

If you don't strength train and try to build muscles, you will be a twig. "Skinny fat", as the TNT diet book calls it. In fact, you should probably pick up a copy. It might be what you're looking for.

I know exactly what you mean, I was essentially skinny fat. Is it best to focus on strength trainging and work in weightloss exercise later?

Check out the book. It teaches you when you eat what nutrients so that you can alternate between fat loss and muscle gain. Essentially, your body can't do both at the same time, but you can alternate between the two based on what you eat.

Focus on doing interval-based strength training. In order words, keep rests between set of exercises short, focus on form and activation of muscle fibers, and ditch long, drawn-out cardio sessions. Seriously, pick up a copy of the TNT book.

Remove the focus from weight loss. Eat healthy, enjoy your cheesecake, and work out like a monster to pack on the muscle. You'll be a muscle fatty in no time.

See my profile picture. Hopefully that'll change soon though because I just joined a gym.

I have a pretty high body fat percentage and I'm skinny at the same time. That's basically what skinny fat is. I probably wouldn't be able to get abs if I tried because there's too much fat there.

You don't look fat to me.

I was thinking "skinny fat" meant that you were mostly skinny, but you had a little extra weight around the middle.

I have the same problem because I never exercised before. My arms were like twigs and you could see all my ribs but I had a soft look around the middle.

Was great for clothes however but being naked, not so much........

The skinny fat diet for me basically consisted of coffee and cigarettes for a year. No wonder it looked so awful.

Actually, if you are as fat as I was, people can't get their arms around you... not so huggable. icon_sad.gif

But, I, too, would like to be more huggable, so I am trying. I still have a very long road ahead of me. icon_confused.gif

Eat as much clean calories as you can, shit loads of protein and lift as heavy as you can, then u get that kinda muscle roundish shape, I love that kinda shape on guys, so sexy. Much better then a ripped guy, not cuddly enough.
