I have felt like crap since yesterday morning so I finally decided to head to the doctor. Well, I have strep! I haven't had it in so many years.

The weirdest thing to me is that no one else I know has it. On Sunday I shared a water bottle with a bunch of my friends and even food with some of them. I also spent the night cuddling and kissing this guy the other night and he is perfectly fine, so I can't blame him for giving it to me. Who gave this to me?! icon_mad.gif

I mean seriously, who gets sick when it is still hot as hell outside?!

Strep sucks. I hated it, and was pissed that I had to stay home one weekend when my friend was in town.

You probably got it from a kid wiping his nose, and then touching a railing or something. That is how I got it.

    Stupid kids!

I just don't see how didn't at least pass it on to anyone. I mean, you would think hours of making out would do the trick...

Maybe my immune system just sucks

it's an airborne pathogen and its incubation period is 4-7 days, so you could have been around anyone over the last week who had it and now you've got it.

    get well soon!

You likely have streptococcus pyogenes. Genus 'streptococcus', species 'pyogenes'. Over 100 serotypes. Lives everywhere, including on the skin. Nobody 'gave' it to you. A change in an otherwise 'controlled' environment in your body let it colonize the throat and become temporarily pathogenic. A big ouchie, but if you caught it early you'll be fine.

I haven't had strep since I was a kid. It sucks, but at least the test is easy, and it can be cured quickly.

And I have THRUSH in the back of my throat. O_o Don't know how that happened but it tastes atrociously and hurts kind of when I swallow. Fml. Just found out today and immediately got started on some Clotrimazole Troches.. Hope they work. And hope you get to feeling better as well.. Good luck and keep us posted on how you're doing!

There's a lot of things that can cause thrush: taking antibiotics, a weakened immune system, other health problems.
