We got asked to answer this scenario in class today: Upon completion, you'll be paid $10 million dollars to survive for one year on a deserted island in the middle of the ocean. The only things the island will have are a freshwater waterfall a mile from shore and palm trees. You'll be allowed to bring 6 things with you. What are they? Do you think that you would be able to survive?

    My answers were:

    1) Matches
    2) Fishing gear (net, knife, bucket, etc...)
    3) Solar powered freezer
    4) A tent
    5) My book collection
    6) A blanket

    I think I could survive.

    Sat phone and charger
    Solar powered charger
    brightly colored tent
receptacle for collecting and storing water
My "10 Essentials" kit bag (if that's cheating, I'll bring a knife and firestarter)

I use the sat phone to call people back home and explain the situation. I arrange to sell my home for capital to pay for the shipments of food and supplies that I will set up to recur on a regular basis until the year is up. icon_lol.gif

My list would look really similar to yours.

    1. Matches/fire source
    2.Tent
    3.Sleeping bag probably not blanket
    4.Clothes/Boots
    5.Weapon and fishing gear
6.Survival kit which includes cooking and eating utensils, FIRST AID KIT, mosquito spray, compass, and rain gear, and radio/walkie talkie with access to signals

    Is #6 cheating?

A hunting knife set (ie, knife and sharpening stone)

my iPad with thousands of books (along with a solar/wind charger)

Cooking equipment (large pot with a good lid, cast iron pot, frying pan, few smaller pots, flat plate, knifes, wooden spoons, spatulas, tongs and 3 massive chopping boards)

A blanket and sleeping and my awesome pillows

A MASSIVE supply of toilet paper, soap, face wash and moisturizer and sunscreen

A very large and very thick walled dutch oven with racks to go inside (Good food is very important)

A few large containers for water and such

Fire starter (cause I don't wanna be rubbing two sticks together.

My rechargeable portable speaker that I can charge using my solar/wind charger to listen to music

Some hottie to snuggle at night
