Some important stuff here and especially for one of our RJ members who see race in anything and everything

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/articles/raising-cain_594675.html?page=1

"One of the most important lessons Dad taught us was not to feel like victims,” Cain writes. “He never felt like a victim. He never talked like a victim. And both our parents taught us not to think that the government owed us something. They didn’t teach us to be mad at this country.”"

"His faith helped him through stage 4 cancer when 70 percent of his liver and 30 percent of his colon were removed"

If he rises to the top I think this could be a problem though Edit: I fixed this so folks know I'm talking about the liver cancer

Liver cancer generally comes back so it makes his VP choice real important.

Racism is alive and well in the USA. You have shown yourself to be a racist more than once. You've also proven to be an asshole and hypocrite by calling out another RJ member.

I think it comes down to outlook on life. Some people see themselves as victims and will blame their failures on others, others have a different outlook in life and rise above their challenges.

Racism is racism. No matter how you want to spin it, people who experience racist attacks are victims

Posted something similar in another thread, modified here.

I see groups of people with extremely different ways of looking at the world, having very different belief systems. One group I'll call optimists. Cain is a perfect example. They believe in the fundamental ability of the person, and have the belief that if someone tries hard enough, and perseveres, over time they will succeed. Success is not necessarily measured by a degree of wealth, but rather by a satisfaction in life goals having been achieved. They might have failed a number of times, but keep trying until they succeed.

The other group I'll call pessimists. They are cynical and believe it is impossible to be a success, however that is defined, unless ethical behavior is abandoned. They look to those who have succeeded and consider them either lucky or unethical, or both.

I have been reading a couple of other threads recently and have been shocked by pessimists with their negative thinking with their typical woe-is-me attitude. I hope they represent only a small percent of both the RJ as well as the total population. Maybe the number increased with the bad economy. Maybe the expectation that the next generations will not be as well off as previous generations is sapping their spirit. Maybe they grew up with an entitlement mentality, and find that things not handed to them have left them bitter.

Perfect example ^^^^^ You NEVER do anything like that do you? So what's that make you?

I’d call you a bigger asshole, but some truths are self evident.

Since you’re such a big fan of raising taxes on those who produce and create jobs in this country, maybe you could devote some time to helping out the nation out by advocating some way to collect some taxes from that underground economy such drug dealers, pimps and PROSTITUTES.

Sometimes its the scale/degee of 'victimhood'.For eg.,the fate of so many in Europe in the 1930/40s; great wrongs were done then. That can be a call to action, social progress.
Other times it`s chance and misfortune, like illness or car accidents or even birth where blame is much harder to note.
Either way,a robust attitude is always better.

Herman Cain, an American. Let's hope he has the chance to prove to the world what shunning the victim attitude can bring to a man.

    I wish him well.

    Pot meet kettle???

Funny, I post a very positive article about Herman Cain, as I've done a number of times, who I very much support, but point out that stage four liver cancer could become an issue, just like I would have concerns about Chris Chritie's BMI and I'm called a racist. Huh? I'm really not - I still support some white folk.

I think it's really best to ignore trash, whether it be threads they start or messages they post. They have no shame and self-respect to start with. They are the perfect examples of self-loathing bottom feeders, if you'll pardon the pun. icon_lol.gif

Maybe bottom receivers would be a better way to 'put' it?

Thanks, coming from you, I'm honored.

Since you evidentially don't have any 'business' today maybe you can get to work and show me ONE of those racist attacks? Just one will do.

Aside from his backwards and repugnant views on gay rights, I really like Herman Cain a lot (nobody's perfect). But I'm not sure how his refusal to be a victim negates the obvious and intolerable bigotry of a small handful of RealJock members.

Recognizing prejudices and not being a victim are not mutually exclusive. And even Herman Cain would admit that; he's not stupid. In other words, just because I'm not a victim doesn't mean you're not a racist.

More importantly, Cain is a good guy and I wish him the best in the GOP primaries.

Some of his views can evolve and I think he’s fair-minded enough to do just that. I certainly admire his optimism, work ethics and principals. It could be a new morning in America if he makes it. I wish him the best.

Come on, this one's a softball.
Legalize it. Tax it. No more underground economy.

National sales tax? Herman Cain's and Jon Huntsman's tax proposals make some considerable sense.
