Atlanta Pride is this weekend!!! The weather is going to be beautiful (76 and sunny both Saturday and Sunday) and its going to be a ton of fun. So is anyone coming into town for the weekend?

As of now, my plans are the kickoff party at the Aquarium then finish the night at the Jungle Friday night. Spend all day at Piedmont Park Saturday. Then Saturday night I was invited to a rooftop party at my condo so I am doing that. Then going to watch the parade and probably head to Blakes afterwards on Sunday!

I'll be there! My rugby team (the St. Louis Crusaders) is coming to play the Bucks at 1pm Saturday in the park.

EDIT: so apparently we are not playing at Piedmont Park, where the festival is. Looking up the details now.

I'll be there. A friend of mine and I are going on Friday...we're checking out Heretic that night. Chilling during the day on Saturday, then hitting Blake's then Jungle on Saturday night! I've heard that it's going to get crowded, so we're planning on getting there early.

We're rolling back to SC on Sunday...after sleeping in!! Hopefully, more RJers will be out there as well!

P.S. This is the first time I've been to a "Pride," so I'm looking forward to the experience!

I am sure it will be a wonderful event.

Isn't it a BIT past Pride Season?

Or is that the point in holding it in fall, to differentiate from the gazillion other Pridefests around this gay land of ours

Have you been to Atlanta in the summer? I am glad it is a little later in the year so the weather will be amazing and people won't be dying of heat stroke

Plus it coincides with national coming out day, which is Oct 11th

Atlanta Pride is always in Oct because of other scheduled events in the Park. They also do that because of the wear and tear on the grass. They have spent quite a bit of money on that grass. They treat it like it's an endangered race species! Seriously!

As far as I know, Pride in Atlanta hasn't always been in October, it was only in the past couple of years that it moved from June to October. The last time I came down to Atlanta for Pride (2006), it was in June. I'm thinking about coming down for a long weekend, hope everyone has fun.

It was in June, inline with Stone Wall and New York's Pride.
I don't remember if it was too much rain or not enough the meadow was too damage to handle that amount of people. They used to swap it so it was on one side one year and the other side the next to balance the park.

It was moved originally to July after we were moved out of the park and went to the civic center. BLAH
October does make it a little better and cooler. I'll be there both Saturday and Sunday and I'll be walking with the Dyna'Mos climbing group Sunday.
Hope everyone comes and has fun.

I loved Atlanta Pride when it was in June. The hotter the weather, the more shirts that come off.

Truth. At 50 degrees, though, we'll get to see more erect nipples.

It's worthwhile to attend the parade if only to show your support for our rights.

Atlanta doesn't have the best Pride you'll ever see but it's still worth your time if you can get into town.

Last year, my lesbian buddy and I delighted in interviewing the various religious protestors------the God Hates Fags-type. One very cute one, named Jimmy, will I predict be on one of OUR FLOATS this year.

It's great to see the corporate support and you'll quickly realize that WITHOUT THE GAYS.........Delta Airlines and Suntrust Bank would have to close down.

COKE does its part in a big way too-------very refreshing indeed.

The only thing I wish there was much, much more of is ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT. I wish Pride could be a showcase for gay and gay-friendly comics, singers and other performing arts.

I'd love to see local theatre groups presenting their work(especially with gay themes) in the open air of Piedmont Park.

This is a new year of Pride........so let's go see what's out there.

I'm moving from Iowa to Florida this weekend and I'll be in Atlanta Sunday. I've only been to one pride this past June, so I might check it out... Thanks for the heads up

I'll be there. Ever since they moved it to October it's been beautiful. It used to rain every year in June (plus it was usually my bday weekend...no good).
