Well, Apple just announced their latest phone, the iPhone 4S, along with a new iPod nano and iPod touch.

Anyone disappointed in the missing iPhone 5? Is the iPhone 4S not good enough?

What are your thoughts? Gonna get one?

If you're stuck with AT&T or any GSM carrier, the 4S dual-antenna diversity will cut down on dropped calls. Faster HSPA+ data is a bonus.

LTE support requires dual radio circuits or you're screwed outside of LTE coverage. That phone WILL be larger and suck more power.

Waiting for their debut today... but I think I'll probably get a Samsung Galaxy S II instead.

I think I might stick with getting a new iPod Touch. Too bad it still doesn't have 3G.
My phone is about 4 years old already!

Oh dear! Isn't it supposed to be extra tough glass? How'd you break it?
Have you checked with Apple for a repair yet?

it all depends on how many times you drop it and how many times you drown it in a lake and all things considered im amazed it still works just fine.

Get an Otterbox with your next one. It will protect your iPhone from just about anything

I have a 32GB 3GS, and I've been waiting for a 64 GB iPhone. Finally, room for my entire music collection as well as TV shows and movies downloaded from TiVo!

This time, I'm also going with white - the gay color, lol. The only thing I haven't decided is carrier. Before iPhone, I was with Verizon - better coverage where we live, including the full Metro system. AT&T is slightly better out at our farm, but only slightly. Sprint, probably don't have the balls to try it.

Did you take it in and see if they'd fix it? I broke mine and they swapped it out for free....twice. I'm going to pass on the 4S. I don't see enough benefit to upgrade. I'll wait until the 5 finally comes out.

Lucky you. Officially, out of warranty "service" (really a refurb) costs $199. I found this out when I borked my 3GS by washing it.

I have an old 3G that is on its last leg, and was really hoping for a major upgrade via the 5. I was disappointed with today's announcement. Since I need a new phone, I think I will most likely opt for saving some money, just getting the reduced price iPhone 4 for now, and waiting to see what they have to offer next year.

Yea I have to get a new one, too, cuz my screen broke. No, it's not because I threw it down onto the granite curb as hard as I could this morning after seeing the Apple press conference... it was an accident... It was... I swear...

So now I need a new one.

To me the iPhone 4S IS the iPhone 5. lol I think everyone became too fixated on the fact that it's not a sequential number thing.

Again?? Stop having your bf throw your phone down on your abs while you're doing crunches. icon_lol.gif

    Here are your alternatives:

EDIT: On second read it looks like the LCD panel is glued to the glass...and those links are only the glass. You'll have to find both items to make it happen.

Definitely will purchase. My iPhone 4 needs replacing....

I'm wondering if shitty battery life (especially after 8 months or so) is only with iPhones or if it occurs with all types of smart phones....

Granted, I don't use my VZ iPhone more than an hour a day. But, I'm pretty sure I get at least two days of battery life.

Depends on how you use it. GPS requires serious number crunching.

    Also:

    http://www.mobileme.com

Apple's site that uses your iTunes login to retrieve a fix on your iPhone4 or equipped iPhone3GS. Allows you to display a message, play a sound (for those times it slides under your car seat...again) to whoever has it and you can remotely brick the handset.

If this seems like an invasion of privacy, your iTunes login needs to be more secure.

Last week, I let a young woman use my phone to call the police after her wallet and iPhone3GS were taken from her locker. If she had MobileMe running on it (there is a way), she could have gotten a GPS fix to find her wallet, then bricked her phone.

Somehow, the thief managed to use her debit card at a WalMart before she realized her locker had been opened.

probably will wait a month or 2 after the release date... since they usually have problems with their first releases...
