You know that wives' tale about blowjobs causing cancer? Turns out it's true, if the dick jammed down your throat has HPV, the vaccine-preventable virus that also causes cervical cancer. American researchers say throat cancer caused by HPV (generally transmitted to throats during oral sex) has "increased significantly" over the last 20 years.

Very interesting. I will ask my doctor, who's an infectious disease specialist and mostly treats gay men, for her opinion about this.

I only blow my partner, beginning from the time we got together and became monogamous over 3 years ago, and I've tested negative for every STD that can be detected, apparently never had anything my entire life. But still, I like to be informed and competently advised on my risks and options, and so that I can advise others, including him. Maybe that's why we both remain clean. Thanks for this. icon_biggrin.gif

already vaccinated. young men have a much harder time getting insurance 2 pay 4 this vaccine than do our female counterparts.

i'm looking 4 the report showing how many men (ALL men, not just gay men) in the US are infected, most of them repeatedly. i'll post it when i find it.

Throat cancers caused by HPV are more treatable than those not caused by the virus. Median survival in throat cancer patients with the virus is 131 months; without it, 20 months. Virus-related throat cancers are far more common in men than in women, a difference that has not been explained.

So are these new cases gay boys? Or are these young men getting it from eating pussy?

I'm considering the vaccine. If I'm not mistaken, the vaccines protect against different strands. So if you already have ''X'' and ''Y'' Strand, the vaccine can protect you against strand "U", "V" "W", and "Z" correct? (Yes I know these are not the actual strand names but you get the picture).

Isn't it like most people have HPV? If you've had a wart, you have HPV. That's what causes it.
