I've always loved Patsy Cline's "She's Got You." But I'm really digging this Elvis Costello cover. Might just be a new favorite.

Thanks! Jerry Wallace also sang an alternate lyrics cover, which I was familiar with, but I'm liking Costello's much better--more bluesy, less country. (NB: I love country, I just think this song sounds better in this style.)

You should listen to "Walking After Midnight" while you walk, after midnight. icon_wink.gif

    "under the moonlight.."

Hah! I'll add it to my playlist.

Meanwhile, here's another Patsy cover. First I hear of this guy, but... wow! He's good.

enjoy both Ms Cline and Mr Costello. i always find it interesting when ppl feel the need 2 change the gender of a song. take a listen 2 the white stripes singing "Jolene." it's so much sexier when jack sings the original lyrics.

Hadn't heard that cover. I like it!

I think changing the gender makes sense in songs that are addressed to a person. As a gay man, a guy singing the original lyrics of "Jolene" appeals to me because, were I in that situation, I would be asking Jolene not to take "my man." By the same token, Elvis Costello singing the alternate lyrics to "She's Got You" appeals more to me because, well, unless the man I've lost happened to be bi, the other person would be a "he." See what I'm saying?

pt well taken. yet, i think some performers change the lyrics gratuitously. does it really make that much of difference? btw, jack got crap 4 this song. ppl assuming and calling him "gay." such losers.
