I was in LA in June (Actually West Hollywood, for Pride).
    Eleven
    Mickey's
The Abbey (what a great place for dancing)

Those are the clubs that stand out in my mind.
    Good luck.

Yeah, what are you looking for?

The Abbey can be fun if you don't mind the over-priced drinks. Mickey's was fun but I haven't been there since the remodel.

The best gay bar in LA is the Eagle in Silverlake.

Its a butch leather bar. Mostly you will see butch guys, or men into leather, cops, firefighters, I have met a few military guys there as well.

The best time to go to the Eagle is Saturday night, when they have "meatrack" or the big muscular guys dancing.

West Hollywood is not what it used to be. It was a great city with different types of guys back in the day, but it has drastically changed. It's mostly young twinky guys in A&F shirts and in the 18-25 age bracket.

The funny thing is that most people who live in West Hollywood aren't really from southern California. As someone who has lived in LA all my life, nearly everyone I have met in WEHO is from out of state or trying to make it in the entertainment industry.

The only places in WEHO that are still pretty cool are Mickey's and Trunks.

Other places you may want to check out:

    The Eagle
    The Faultline

Both leather butch bars in Silverlake

    The Brit
    The Mineshaft
    The Silver Fox

These are the cool gay bars in Long Beach, which has a VERY large gay community.

In Laguna beach they have closed down the "Boom Boom Room" (I miss the boom soo much! It was my first gay bar !) and the only club left there is Club Bounce. Orange County is very conservative and Republican, so your best bet is to check out the gay bars in LA or Long Beach.

    I hope this helps icon_cool.gif

Actually, OC has had Club Lucky for years (with a couple of the nights in Long Beach at Hamburger Mary's). If you're here at the right time, when they do their monthly gig at House of Blues at Disneyland, it can be really fun.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that there's also VLVT starting up in Santa Ana tomorrow night in fact. They were around last year, but went through some reorganization so tomorrow's the re-opening event.

But yeah, similar to what others have said, it really depends on what you're looking for.

    As far as WeHo goes:

I personally really like the Abbey and love their mojitos, though it will cost you. Motherload is a pretty awesome place, and is more of the bar scene than the club scene.

Someone mentioned Mickey's. Since the remodel, it's pretty nice. Always busy. If it's your thing, the gogo boys there are pretty scandalous (sometimes I wonder how they don't get shut down for some of the shit they do). I will say that their dance floor is only alright, though.

I've also been to Rage a lot in the past, and since you're Asian, I might as well mention that every Friday night there is Gameboi, their Asian night. Again, don't know if it's your thing, but just in case, there's the info. They have a decent main dance floor there, but don't drink there, it's just not worth it.

And lastly, probably gotta mention Fiesta Cantina 'cuz if you're looking to get drunk, that's probably the place to do it. Not awesome drinks, but the prices can't be beat, especially when they've got the 2-for-1 deal going.

Hope it helps and hope you have an awesome trip!

The Abbey is always a good bet any night. Eleven can be fun on Friday nights. Not sure if the new REVOLVER has opened yet right across from ELEVEN, but it will surely be a hot spot. HERE Bar on Sundays.

mickey's (drag queen night on mondays are fun)
    abby (pricey drinks)
motherload (strong drinks and if your into older bearish kind of guys)
    rage (young crowd)
fiesta cantina (2 for 1 drinks)
all of these clubs/bars are walking distance from each other in west hollywood. just check em all out and some other clubs as well since most don't charge entrance anyway ;) there are also some cool bars outside of west hollywood like Mj's and akbar in silverlake but i think west hollywood would be better for tourists and can easily switch just in case you get bored at where your at.

Abbey is always a popular place to go to any night of the week, but it's really packed on Friday and Saturday night. As a matter of fact, Abbey is even packed during the day sometimes.

Eleven is another popular place to go to on Friday and Saturday night

Then there's Mickys, Rage (friday night is asian night), Cantina, Motherlode, Trunks, Fubar, etc which is basically walking distance from each other.

Here Lounge on Wed night is fun - it's where all the go go dancers dance naked. A lot of guys go there on Sunday afternoon and night for drinks also.

Check out the schedule for Ultra Suede and Factory. I believe they have Super Cherry Popz on Saturday which is fun. They open up into one big club with 2 different dance floors, and I believe they also have after hours at Factory afterward. I used to love it when they had 3 dance floors playing 70s, 80s and 90s music. I think they still do that every now and then.

The Abby is the most popular bar. All the gay bars are in one area and walking distance. You also might like Fiesta Cantina.

I don't think the Abbey's drinks are that expensive.. it's like 10 or 11 dollars a drink.... The Abbey is fun. I liked Mickeys when I went last week. They played good music but halfway through had a Katy Perry wannabe get up and try and sing her song "live".... fail. (Liz Primo, anyone ;) haha)

You'll find a lot of places though. Just go out and look.

I've only been in the area for a few months, here are some places I've been:

    Gym - gay sports bar
Fubar- (Thursday is big fat dick night)
Eleven- dance and has a great patio
Fiesta Cantina- can't beat the drinks
Abbey- popular where people try to be seen.
MJ's in Silverlake. My friends drug me to that for foam on Sat. (yet I was the only one who took off my shirt)
Suede- for Cherry Pop. Going to see Cazwell tomorrow here.

So there always seems like something going on and lots of places to choose from. Just depends on what you are looking for

hmm thanks for the info about the Asian night. But I am not in L.A. tonight.
I am not looking to get drunk lol. Just wanna dance in a club scene.
A lot of you mentioned Mickey's. Great it is just a few blocks away from The Abbey!

    Faultline
    MJ's
    Akbar

But I'd rather slit my throat than be dragged to The Abbey. What a bunch of pretentious queens. It's set up with sofas and very lounge like, but the horrible music is so loud all you can do is just sit there and stare at each other. I think they only allow people in wearing toe rings.

I worked at mickey's and know all the clubs there.

Let me know when you are out here, I can give you a rundown of the promotions and details I know of.

I haven't been there though really since I stopped working there
