I must agree with you 100%. Just because someone has or - in their profile or they say they are negative, it is YOUR health and YOUR future at state!

Please guys, I speak on this topic all the time to groups.

A common statement I hear over and over is "he said he was negative so we went ahead and didnt practice safe sex" or "the condom takes the sensation out of it".....

ONCE AGAIN, so what use only YOUR judgement!!

So Please guys, share your knowledge, your wisdom and your common sense!

Read the Forum topic (under "All Things Gay") on Barebacking. There's a lively thread there on HIV and responsibility...

It's hard to categorize these things by subject, but we've been discussing them.

In theory I agree with you guys, but RealJock is first and foremost a fitness community. To expect sexual health forums to be among the most important to the site's visitors is a bit unrealistic. I agree these topics should be more of a concern to many gay men - but there are plenty of forums on the internet specifically dedicated to health concerns.

Speaking for myself, even if these forums were more active on RealJock, I wouldn't necessarily visit them. Just because some of us are on here chatting with people, it doesn't automatically follow that we are uneducated/uninterested in matters of sexual health... Or for that matter, that we are even being sexually active.

hmm, well i don't think this is the site to talk about hiv and hiv related issues. If you look at the post under hiv and read the judgmental comments and lack of support you will see what i'm talking about.

There are so many good resources on the web regarding HIV/AIDS, and sexual health in general, that I'm not sure we (who are primarily NOT in the health care field) could add much of substance.

I suppose there would be a place for discussions of what consititutes responsible behavior, or how to deal with dating or relationships between people on the opposite side of the HIV divide. But aside from that, I'm not sure what the thread author would expect to see here.

I can't imagine that there is a gay man out there who doesn't have stories of health problems, or even of friends dying.

I suppose the forums could certainly be one place for this communitty to show support if someone was looking for that here.

I just don't see any real interest in those forums though.

Well, it can be a very anxiety-producing and depressing topic. So I can see why people might not be motivated to discuss it.

Plus, to get a good thread started, you need to have something you really want to discuss... specifically. What do you want to discuss about sexual health? The fact that catching an STD sucks? The fact that it's important to be informed? Unless you have something unique and specific to contribute to a discussion, it's bound to die.

So, if you really want to start things up, maybe start a "What's your funniest STD story?" thread. That might get some contributions...... I'll share mine if you share yours. ;-)

Maybe just a post to the HIV/AIDS forum here that contains a set of links to forums/information sources on HIV/AIDS elsewhere on the internet would be an appropriate compromise?

yeah i agree with many of you guys... i'm definitely not here to talk about sexual health. i'm plenty informed in that area and all set. if i do have questions i would refer to my doctor, personally. (or another site online that's designed as an LGBT sexual health resource.)

I am HIV+ and stay active partially as a way of increasing my life expectancy. I just hope people are being honest on this website when they declare their status!

The last HIV test I take (it was negative) is 25 years ago. I have not do any barebacking or anal sex in the last 15 years. So , eventhough I have not do any HIV test ,I am confident I am negative.
