Beyonce is where Madonna was in the 90's: a song is only appealing and/or successful because it's Beyonce and not because the song is really that good.
The video is nice and appealing, if unoriginal and not innovative. The song is a mess.

Love pretty much anything Beyonce´ does in video because she always looks amazing and the visuals are eye-popping and colorful. I actually thought there were some innovative aspects, while at the same time borrowing from other eras (like the FLASHDANCE sequence). I wasn't nuts about the song, but like most of her music I suspect it will grow on me.

I like this video. I know Beyonce's videos are usually always based off of musical classics... I think this is a mix of "An American in Paris" and "Bye Bye Birdie". She seems to like the 60's a lot.

To me I see kind of a ripoff of the visual look of some of Nicki minaj's stuff as well as Janelle Monae. And a helluva lot of 60's.

    Not that I mind...

And I think there's Gigi too. Never saw Gigi, but Audrey Hepburn's look from that movie is unmistakable.

The video reminds me of an extended GAP commercial. The song doesn't appear to have any lasting qualities, but it's fun and enjoyable for the moment. I like how she did a countdown and worked the numbers into the lyrics. That's probably the highlight for me.

B looks soo stunning. However I hope she doesn't damage the baby with all that rolling on the floor. However this was a great video and I liked the song too.

I saw Janelle Monae in this too icon_smile.gif I think it's a fun song. This generation is all about referencing each other, I love it.

Could've been. I thought it was Gigi because of this look:

Beyonce does a lot of borrowing, although borrowing from one artist to another is nothing new. Her much talked about performance at the Billboard Music Awards was derived from someone else.

Beyonce's music is very intricate and harmonically complicated which may be why you don't like this song. I loved it, because it's so much more alternative to the standard I-IV-V-I progressions I'm used to. She's one of the few pop artists that knows what she's doing on paper.

    Yes, exactly. It's a mess. icon_razz.gif
