The island of Curaçao went all-out pink to honor the start of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month on October 1.
Downtown Willemstad, Curaçao's capital and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, colored its entire Handelskade waterfront along the Santa Anna Bay a bright pink in order to kick off the month-long awareness campaign and the Yoplait Dance and Walk for the Cure.
The Yoplait Dance and Walk for the Cure also took place on October 1. The event traveled through downtown Punda in Willemstad, through the Jewish headquarters in Scharloo and returned on the Queen Emma Pontoon Bridge. The entire waterfront was lit up in bright pink lights to "light the way" for the walk's participants.
All funds raised from the walk went to the Fundashon Prevenshon, Curaçao's breast cancer screening center founded by Professor Bob Pinedo and located in downtown Willemstad.
