"US Drug Policy Would Be Imposed Globally By New House Bill - Shameless Imperialism"

"The House Judiciary Committee passed a bill yesterday that would make it a federal crime for US residents to discuss or plan activities on foreign soil that, if carried out in the US would violate the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) -- even if the planned activities are legal in the countries where they're carried out. The new law, SPONSORED BY JUDICIARY COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN REP. LAMAR SMITH (R-TEXAS) allows prosecutors to bring CONSPIRACY CHARES AGAINST ANYONE WHO DISCUSSES< PLANS OR ADVISES SOMEONE else to engage in any activity that violates the CSA, the massive Federal Law that prohibits drugs like marijuana and strictly regulates prescription medication ... Civil libertarian attorney Harvey Silverglate says the bill raises several concerns. "Just when you think you can't get any more cynical, a bill like this comes along, I mean ti just sounds like an abomination...." "

Will this be another case of our republican friends sluffing this off as 'not going to pass, so don't worry', VOTE REPUBLICAN REGARDLESS of this yet another example of idiotic social controls that republicans would reign down on us. So what do you think of this 'SMALL GOVERNMENT REPUBLICAN IDEA?

Republicans have promised to go back to DADT, totally do away with the rights of a womans control over her own body where abortions are concerned, (even in cases of rape) and there are many other examples of social controls they've talked about. There's also an obvious trend among them toward mixing Government and Religion and an Amendment to the constitution making Marriage only between a man and a woman.

Which would be the lessor of the evils, Social controls from Republicans affecting many aspects of Daily life that is not the business of Government to do, or Democratic controls on Corps. Banks and Wall Street for the benefit of the public. ?.

Sadly, today's so-called Republicans believe in a very unique type of small government, namely one that doesn't tell them what to do with their money and guns; but, when it comes to social issues such as women's rights, marijuana, and GLBT issues, their motto suddenly changes to: more government intervention! The government that they so loath and despise and want to see changed into one governed by 'the people' becomes no more when the aforementioned social issues come into play.

It's amazing really, you know? They want harsh laws against marijuana because it's a drug and can lead to substance abuse when they seemingly have no issues with fast food restaurants on every corner peddling fat and calorie-laden food to people who are already obese and on the verge of a heart attack. Nor do they want to ban coffee which, surprise, is a drug since regular coffee contains, you guessed it, CAFFEINE!
