Well heres how you break it down.

Tea Party People: those who work hard, have respect for money, take pride in their appearance and know how to act civilized. Their protests are always peaceful.

Occupy People: dont have jobs, live off government checks, no maners, and think society owes them a living. They are jealous of anyone who has materials they want. Their dirty, they dont bathe, and they probably smoke pot. They probably provoke the police to make the arrests.

yourname2000 saidGot news for ya, sweetheart: if waving an American flag was gonna fix your country, it would have been fixed forever decades ago, lol.

You guys need to get the rich paying their fair share....but no. They've got you all brainwashed into thinking "someday I might be rich: I should keep taxes down for the rich, so when I'm rich I won't be overtaxed." In the meantime, YOU will be paying the rich folks' taxes for them (and therefore you will NEVER, EVER be rich.)

As for the teabaggers having better hygene than the others.....judging from the close-up shots of the members of each group, I sincerely doubt that, hahaha...."soap is just a liberal conspiracy!"

Waving the flag doesn't fix anything, but it does demonstrate a love of country and a desire to improve rather than tear-down.

And many of the guys who support a fiscal conservative position also believe in personal accountability. Many of them have good jobs and have an entrepreneurial spirit. They believe in the American Dream, will help elect a government that is not anti-business, that does not believe profit is a dirty word. I would bet that comparing the guys in their 20s who are fiscally conservative with the guys in their 20s who are demonstrating, the former will have a much higher standard of living.

The Tea Partiers were also armed in large numbers.

And, as anyone who has watched the footage of the mass arrests can see, the police deliberately pushed the Occupy demonstrators into a situation where they were forced to engage in peaceful civil disobedience.

In fact, those images were a win for the Occupy movement as it raised tons of awareness and brought allies to the demonstrators. icon_lol.gif

This kind of stuff isn't gonna save your country....just polarize you guys more. There was this famous quote I heard once --thought it was really clever: "United we stand; divided we fall." Golly, not sure who said such a thing, but obviously (from the "state of the union" today) it WASN'T an American. icon_wink.gif

There are certainly very strong divergent opinions, but in terms of fundamental ideologies, the liberals are at 21%. My guess is the far left liberals are maybe half that.

    http://www.gallup.com/poll/148745/Political-Ideology-Stable-Conservatives-Leading.aspx

Obviously that percent is not reflected in the RJ political threads. On RJ, as elsewhere, the far left is becoming increasingly vocal and bitter. They are frustrated that they are seeing their hope for their ideology dominating are sinking along with the Obama poll numbers and the increasing likelihood that they will lose the White House and become the minority in both houses of Congress. For them it is even worse. If the Democrats lose all, the party will most likely move back towards the center. The blue-dogs will gain prominence having been cast aside by Obama, Reid, and Pelosi. The vitriol is encouraged by the increasingly desperate Obama, whose political strategy appears to emphasize class warfare and appeal to the special interests and the minorities.

Therefore, while the vitriol will be loud and bitter, it is from a disaffected minority, and the country will, after this unfortunate 4 years, cleanse itself and move back on a very slow path to prosperity.

It would be nice if the people apart of this new movement didn't look like whores, druggies, and punks. I give you that one.

I think many are frustrated, but I don't think many share what a reading of the signs say, such as "down with capitalism".

Counting the number of flags is the one of the stupidest pieces 'evidence' one could point to and declare that it shows who loves their country more.

You don't need to wave the flag to demonstrate your love for the principles that this country was founded on. Bearing the flag can even be seen as an empty gesture if the actions you take and/or support are contrary to said principles.

And if the number of arrests mean anything, then I guess we should be criticizing the Civil Rights movement. Lots of arrests there. King himself was arrested.

You can hold your flag any way you want, and can also stick it wherever you want. Not only did I serve and have Discharge forms, but I also have passes to go to Arlington National Cemetery any time I want because I have two NOK buried there. If they knew you were carrying the flag upside down they would be completely disgusted. I'm not. I don't care how you hold it.

Interesting how some RJ members who have served, rarely - if ever - mention their service, while others, with weak arguments keep bringing it up again, and again and again as if it will somehow bolster their position.

I'm thinking of someone, but you probably wouldn't consider his argument weak since he's conservative. In practically every thread he posts in he mentions it. Even socal mentioned the guy's service.

Who? The dead? Apparently you don't know the history of flying it upside down.

Interesting how some RJ members who regardless of whether they served or not, constantly bring up the virtues of flying a flag to bolster their argument that only flag flyers are patriotic or pro American.

The irony here is missed by dismissed by you. I wonder why.

I personally don't like to bring it up, but I do when others use their service as a lever to put down those with whom they disagree. Using their service when the context does not pertain to military knowledge is a cheap arguing tactic, which to me is very distasteful for some very personal reasons.

Interesting to note that you are silent when it comes to insulting others based on displaying a flag as a 'cheap arguing tactic' which to ME is DISTASTEFUL for PERSONAL reasons.

    Think about that!

yourname2000 saidBoth sides are "poisoning the water" because you're both idiots who think you're up-stream from one another. From my perspective, you're actually brothers in a bathtub wallowing in each others' piss while your house burns down. It's sad to watch.

The 21% number is those who call themselves liberal, and it is from Gallup, a highly respected polling organization. So if you think repeating that means you're on crack, can't say much to you. Regarding your perspective, while one from the outside can be insightful, that is clearly not always the case. I think yours is completely wrong, but that's ok, doesn't really matter.
