I am picking up a new RJ member from Dubai Airport tomorrow night. He's gorgeous and I'm nervous!!! He's excited and did I mention I'm nervous!?!

Putting on my Trocks797 hat now.

Early today, jms84 was in the chatroom and happened to meet RR who was probably announcing he's visiting Dubai. So he told RR to look me up.
Got home early, logged on RJ and saw an unfamiliar handle on my inbox and voila, an e-mail from RR --who was online! Luckily, I caught up jms84 on facebook as well. Both of them were online and I ended up switching on my RJ IM after so many months of shut off!
So I was basically chatting with jms84 first before I saw a response from RR.
Oh this was sweet...although jms84 actually forgot *d0h!* to mention having referred me to RR until I told him I got a message from an RJ member who's flying to Dubai today and will be here tomorrow night!
It was surreal to see jms84 live and strumming his guitar! Sadly I don't have a cam as the internet connection here at home is tricky since I'm just using my roommate's old laptop which can access free internet connection --thanks to our neighbor's unsecured wireless network; although it goes on and offline every fifteen minutes or so.
Which is why I need to continue typing the rest later...

I told jms84 that I'd get back to him as RR is responding now on the IM. jms84 volunteered to provide the live background music (albeit amateurishly --love you! lol) as I was already chatting RR. Though once in a while I'd be distracted (more than Sedative's new haircut does) since I can actually identify some of the '90s tunes jms84 is playing e.g. "Mr. Jones and Me" and "Linger"! But told him nonetheless that I'm still disappointed since he's got some trousers on and he won't even take off his shirt at 1pm icon_evil.gif (Montreal time)!
So I began chatting up RR about his flight details, itinerary, duration and place of his stay. He'll be staying in one of the new hotels at Dubai Internet City (which is in the so-called "New Dubai" area --the opposite end where I reside, which is now a ghetto slum in comparisonicon_redface.gif lol)
So he'll only be here for three days! And his only plan is to go skiing at Ski Dubai in Mall of the Emirates. I told him, "Yeah, do that as I watch you from the bar overlooking the dome!" icon_lol.gif
I actually suggested we take The Big Bus on Friday morning, which is a 4 1/2 bus tour of Dubai. That got him even excited! Oh yeah, RR's from San Antonio, Texas by the way... first time to set foot in United Arab Emirates.

I also learned that he just joined RJ yesterday, no wonder he was brave enough to message me as he's totally clueless of what the repercussions are hitting me up, let alone meeting me in person! icon_lol.gif
But nonetheless he was very happy that he got himself onboard RJicon_wink.gif
He asked about the taxi shituation here, of all things that I hate most! He was wary that he'd be ripped off. I told him the truth about the overall bad attitude and non-existent sense of customer service here by the stinking taxi drivers here --tip of the iceberg of the overall rotten transport "system" here. Enough of the rant. LOL
Digging further, I learned that he is travelling by himself and will only take the cab on the way to the hotel which is about 20 minutes to reach by car.
He spontaneously, no, kiddingly asked me to meet him at the airport upon his arrival --I should know this was "kiddingly" as there was a "lol" after it.
I immediately wrote. "Yeah, why not?"
He was cute with his use of "Yay!" and I trust my intuition about him. I know it's all a "We'll see" situation.icon_rolleyes.gif
He kept going how excited he is, with his uncanny "Yay!" interpersed in the IM.
jms84, bless him, continued to play his guitar in front of his cam... still with clothes on icon_sad.gif

It was fairly meandering, but I think the gist is that you're meeting someone's flight

Even at the height of my growing infatuation, I was keeping both my feet on the ground (now where are they?). I told him not to be too excited and keep his expectations to a minimum since the Dubai that the world see online is all photoshopped. All you'll see are digging on the roads, cranes and more cranes; in other words think construction paradise!
Then he asked me something I found a bit funny. This is how our chat went (in verbatim):

RR: well.. plan on 8pm them
    RR: then
RR: for u to meet me
    zimster: sure
    zimster: okay
RR: u for real going to do it
    zimster: HELLO I AM VERIFIED
    zimster: on RJ
    zimster: lol
zimster: how long have you been a member on RJ?
    RR: LOL.... since yesterday

    I rest my case. icon_lol.gif

Earlier, when I told jms84 that I'd pick up RR from the airport, he was a bit concerned (by the tone of his speaking voice) that I'm meeting someone who's unverified icon_question.gif
I told him I got nothing to lose. Truth is, I will be in the airport area in the early evening anyway, to have dinner with a renowned business author also visiting from the States who looks like our fitguymike who I also fancy here on RJ, btw! But he's straight. The boring kind. But we'll see outside of work how Facer is. Ooops!

So I gave RR my contact details. Since I don't assume he'd be carrying a roaming mobile phone (yes, I even told him that that is the term we use for "celfone" around here...bloody British system! lol), I even went the extra mile to spare him of the expensive hotel charges for outgoing calls to a mobile phone: I told him I will divert the office phone to my mobile number so he can reach me even from a regular land line. I hope I don't forget to do this as I'm dhirty-fwhore! OH MY, WHICH ALSO REMINDS ME: HE IS ALSO 34 YEARS OLD!!! *ding, ding, ding, jackpot!* (I hope you get that reference!) icon_lol.gif

I think I got him jumping for joy when I told him that the three days he'll be here coincides with the weekend, so even I have nothing to worry about with the anticipated late nights out. If only I had the room for myself! UGH!

It wasn't long when he was telling me he'll need to go and pack up as he is heading to the airport already. So all is set: his anticipated arrival time to the exit doors, the kiosk to meet and the shirt he'll be wearing. No, don't ask. LOL Now I'm actually considering doing the funny thing that I 'threatened' him with: TO CARRY A BIG BANNER WITH HIS RJ HANDLE AND PHOTO ON IT!!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I promised to e-mail him directly my contact details once more and I did: along with the text of our IM exchanges. Talk about posterity! icon_cool.gif

So from the airport, we've decided that I might as well take him around to my side of town. When I told my good Scottish friend, RJ member datadubai1 about the meeting, he just found another reason to throw a party tomorrow in his flat! Ahh, this is gonna be a lovely night for RR's short Dubai stint.

I'm not keeping my hopes up high on this 'once in a blue moon' encounter, either. 'Cos to me, seeing jms84 alone was already enough highlight to last me for the weekend.

Okay, I will end this brag, erm, blog with our close-to-finish IM exchange, which I find lighthearted but inspiring nonetheless, like being high school students all over again:

RR: keep a eye on flight XXX
RR: then u know when i will be there.
RR: then i have to get a visa ..so how ever long that takes
zimster: no worries, it's the weeken
    zimster: d
    RR: great
zimster: i was already advised beforehand by the guy you met on the chatroom earlier
    zimster: jms84 from montreal
    RR: oh yeah
RR: he told me to look for ya
zimster: don't you just love the site?
RR: im glad i found ya
    RR: yeah
    RR: i do
zimster: RJ is getting a very good name in terms of gay sites that is not trashy at all
    RR: seen nice..yes

    Wish me *uck guys,
    ZiM xx

this is the longest thread written by a single man I've ever seen. I hope RR doesn't run across it before you pick him up.
